I want to make a huge squig herd, but they don't rank up well. I am currently at 20 squigs and 10 herders, but I want to double the size to 60 total. There are just too many tails, cymbals and prodders that extend over as many as 3 bases! I have seen people convert pink horrors into squigs here on WarSeer, but I think that would lead to more of the same problem as the conversions I have seen are quite large.
I have an idea for using the heads of pink horrors and positioning / green stuffing them so it looks like they are squigs that have quickly buried themselves in the ground waiting for a tasty foot to step in their mouths - like an ambush predator. Part of the herding job would therefore be coaxing them out of their hole / baiting them with the snotling sticks to get them moving. Using this idea, I could extend the prodders over the buried faces and ranking would work much better.
Finally my questions:
1. Would a horror head sitting flat on a 20 mm square base extend over the base in any direction?
2a) Can horror faces (unbeaked) convincingly be converted to look like a buried squig with room for a prodder over top, or would it just be an O&G version of an army of skeleton hands and tombstones?
2b) If it is the latter, does anyone have any suggestions to this ranking problem besides extra empty bases (not WYSIWYG) or sticking the prodders out to the sides (prodders should be pointed at squigs or they aren't herding anything)?
Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.
