Poseidal, don't read too much into it, really. They have been invented by "Jes Goodwin & Friends" after all and I doubt they first wrote a scientific base to create them on. They are nice to look at, some strongly resemble physical shapes of the things they are meant to describe and there's three types of runes. That's it.

Re: Comprehensive guide to Eldar runes & symbols

I've just uploaded some more rune designs and I've found some more sources too, so there will be more to come.

Incidentally, I think that the cursive runes behind the page/section titles in the 4th edition Codex are the same ones used for the page backgrounds in IA11. They are much larger and clearer in IA11, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to transcribe most of them.

Does anyone have some good, high-res close-up photos of the runes on the Phantom Titan Power Glaive?

I've just updated the runes guide with just under 40 of the background runes from IA11. I have confirmed through close inspection and comparison that these are the same runes used in the 4th edition codex. There are around 60 in total; I will have the remainder up on the site in the next week or two.

60 more runes? Sounds interesting. What sort of meanings or is it all sorts?
“For a long time humour was thought to be the most potent antidepressant; recently, though, it was found that the bitter suffering of one's enemies, with the placing of sensible limitations on the success of one's friends, was still more effective.”

No known meanings for any of them - when I say "background", I mean that they're used in the background design for the pages, rather than background as fluff. So they're just some different rune designs with no known meaning.

in WD 391 July 2012 Matt Hutson showcased his (what i have researched to be) Telennar craftworld army the rune featured is the rune under your miscellaneous section with the sub note Related to Exodites/Dragon Knights?
Codex: Eldar (2nd ed.), p30..only its a Flipped image..as this is featured in a white dwarf and Telennar has little fluff and no rune symbol in the lexicanum it would be great if you could make the image so we can add it and together add a little more fluff and iconism to what i think is a fantastic colour schemed eldar army.
