Thread: Meet Daisy the warhound...

    Re: Meet Daisy the warhound...

The plan is to add some straight edging to the rear of the shoulders (not the castle battlements style that is on the front of the model). This will be suplimented with some form of cooling fans on each shoulder. I might redo the cooling on top of the body....

Didnt get much done today due to taking the daughter (warhound titan want to be killer) swimming. She decided it would be a good idea to keep on trying to lick the surface of the water.....strange child. I keep on threatening to attach a few carboard boxes to her to simulate a warlord titan of a scale that would even kick the ass of blackadders build.... Not sure the wife would be to happy however.

I might get some detailing done tonight .... or I might go and drink some Whiskey (I have a nice bottle of monkeys shoulder waiting to be sampled)

    Cheers for the comments

Ooohhh, just leafed trough and thought it was from plasicard...............paper..........thats great ! Making titans from your kids is NOT taken very good by wifes, trust me
About those Ad Mec symbols, why not use the ones from the maufactorum ? or build them like i did with the ones on my warhound ?

In hindsight I wish I had used plastic card. From looking at yours and black adders builds its clear that you get much crisper and cleaner joins. By using card I have made alot more work for myself when it comes to cleaning up with the green stuff.

The aim of this project was to do it as cheap as possible (£4.50 currently) - I cant really justify buying a manufactorium kit. Ponders ....

Love your scratch build SDKFZ - Its teh first time I have seen it. A nice clean and detailed build.

TY, Mate ! Yep, plasticard is alot easier to work with.................but...........it costs BAD when your on a budget. I get the money issue. Dont think ive got any panther sprockets left either, otherways i could have sent you some.
I never get around to finishing my warhound. hers a picture of how she looks......almost done......sigh.

Keep up the great work !

    Liking your warhound SDKFZ.

Any progress on Daisy Scotticus? Or are you knee deep in green stuff?

    Re: Meet Daisy the warhound...

Purchased some 1.6mm plastic rod today. Riviting shall commence shortly accompanied by some whiskey.

Green stuffing has commenced, not finding this element easy at all. Will update tomorrow afternoon with hopefully a completed model...This is dependent upon my daughter deciding that she wants some sleep during the day.

    Wish me luck.

Best of luck to you, Mate ! Youll need it, riveting is a very boring business

Looking forward to seeing how she turns out. If it helps, im rubbish with greenstuff too.

Green stuff is the bane of my life at the moment.... Daisy almost got chucked in the bin I am that fed up of the stuff. In future I intend to work in plastic card, working in card has meant that the clean up job has been huge.

Daisy's left leg - Green stuff complete and close to 80 rivets

My estimate of 2 hours to complete has gone out the window. Green stuff takes ages to do, not helped by the fact that my only sculpting tool is a snapped off blade from a knife.

    Working on the body now.

Body now green stuffed and rivited. Had to do extensive green stuffing on the head.

    Remaining jobs:

    Rivet the weapons
    Rivet the head.
    Paint.

My head hurts due to all of the green stuffing and riveting. Im going down the pub as soon as my wife gets home. I need a beer or 5.

Egad Man don't use snap off blades they're dangerous sharp or dull.

I use a retracting blade model and the blades are cheaper than bandaids, stitches and eye surgery.

Enjoy your beer. Seems that you you have had a very productive day. It is a shame that you do not use a better camera to take the pictures as you cant really see the detail that you have put into your build.

Keep up the good work and dont throw the titan into the bin.

That would explain how I ended up with a inch long gash up the side of my thumb then! You dont want to know what I was doing today ..... I ended up using one of the blades from a snap knife to sculpt .... but without the knife - so just the blade grasped between finger and thumb. ... Just checked I still have 10 fingers.

Will give the stanley knife a try and see how I get on.

Im heading off to my local games night and then to the pub...

Finally sourced my adeptus mechanicus symbols - thanks in no small part to SDKFZ who suggested the Manufactorium kit as a sourse of them....Well I found the correct two pannels on ebay got them for a bargin price. Now to think about location of said two icons (and the best way to extract them from the wall piece...

The green stuff has finally hardened up and much sanding and clean up shall commence tonight. Will need to invest in some needle files to reach into resesses.

I am considering pulling apart teh hips and ankles and using ball and socket joints to allow for a more aggressive and posed stance. At the moment Daisy is rather static,

have you ever tried mould making? Blu stuff is really good and you could use that to make a copy of the symbols your wanting without having to cut up the parts to get the symbols

For cutting styrene or card a snap off blade is more than adequate. I've been using mine for years without a safety ruler and the only problem I've had is when I've tried being a bit to adventurous with the blade length (it's only a small blade and that's being silly on my part) and applied some actual force to it. The danger comes from cutting with too much force, you need the sharpness of the edge to do all the work.

Also sculpting tools are really cheap, and you can use anything on greenstuff really. Using a snapped off knifeblade sounds like an actually bad idea. Try a toothpick or something slightly less dangerous at least!

Hey, great to hear that youve found the part ! Now casting is a great way to solve the problem without having to cut up the wallsection. IF you DO cut it, i can tell you that i used a razorsaw on mine.

Why not put these on the rear of the shoulder? Put them on the sloped part of the rear of the shoulder. Or you could put them on the front of the shins. Any updates yet? I am keen to see your progress. I think you could risk ruining alot of work you have put in if you alter the ankle and hip joints. Your right however it would make for a more dramatic pose.

I blame blackadder totally for this but I am currently adding more detail to the model...
