Angry Mixing colors + Paint Pots

For a long time, I have had an issue with GW paints. The quality of the paint itself is superb. But the paint pots are irritating. I always feel like I can't put GW paint on a palate because you need to load up a brush to get it on the palate in the first place; which makes a mess and takes a considerable amount more time and effort than simply squeezing a paint tube. And then the paint dries up fairly quickly. IMO, it's too much of a hassle to justify, and in the end the paint is too expensive to just let it dry to the palate. The end result? I never mixed my GW colors and I ended up with really harsh highlights and blending issues. I decided to use cheap craft paints, but I'm getting tired of this solution. I want to use better paint.

How do you compensate for the paint pot when you mix colors?

Well, you either suck it up and use a brush to mix the paint with (which 99% of pot owners use) or you use dropper bottles. Now some people transfer their paints such as the P3 series or GW into dropper bottles or you simply use a paint range which has the droppers - such as valleyo. They have a paint series that identically mirrors GW's prior paint series.

However i dont see where you're going wrong? One small brush full of paint thinned with a little water is quite sufficient to paint a mini, unless of course you are painting a large basecoat such as SM armour. In that case, i use a syringe to make a custom mix pre-diluted which i keep in a cleaned out wash pot. If you're making a mess on a pallette then you're doing something wrong.

Have you ever tried using a wet pallette? They're really handy, if like myself, you can't be bothered with the dropper bottles. All you need to make one is some baking paper, a thin sponge and a small shallow tray. I was sceptical about them for AGES, but I've been using one for a year and I'll never go back to a normal pallette again.

Aye, i'd definately recommend a wet pallete for this issue.

A small sealable tub I find works wonders, and like Kuroneko says, they're really simple to make. Mine is the 'Tupperware variant'
