    Deathwing Colour scheme?

Simple question really, what colour are Deathwing meant to be? Depending on the source it seems to be either white or bone and people seem to paint them both ways. There seems to be no consistency.

I know 'Eavy Metal have them as a creamy bone, but what's the official fluff stance on it and why is there such inconsistency about it?

    Thanks in advance

Older stuff (Deathwing and RT era, plus some of early 2nd Edition) had them white and with some serious Native American influences, as the world the Deathwing recruits saved had a Native American culture. This was dropped later in favour of the creamy bone and Native American, then the Native American stuff was dropped around 3rd Edition.

Ultimately, either one works. I prefer the bone myself, as there's enough white accents in a Dark Angels army anyway. That said, I've seen some SWEET white Deathwing Terminators in my time too. Both can be challenging colours to do well, depending on your experience level or really easy if you have some tricks up your sleeve.

They're your army and as long as they're recognisable on the tabletop as Deathwing, do what you wish!

Whatever colour you feel like painting them, there's no right or wrong here.

If however there's some models you're trying to recreate the look of, post a link and we can give you some advice

I would like to question, in a positive way , why it would matter? Curiousity?

I tend to see far more bone, but white would in no way contradict most people's intepretation of the background, and I wouldn't think twice if you plonked down an army of emo walking tanks wearing white (after labour day no less!).

Bartali has a point. It's a popular army, do some image searchs, find a scheme which appeals.

Edit: I recently found this which I love, highlights could be better but otherwise, excellent:

What I would love to see is some painted up as per the old fluff where the suits are black but dubbed white with kaolin clay just before deployment, kinda like their own special version of the purity seal ritual.

Now that would be one awesome looking paint job if done well, alas my skills are not quite their yet.

That's on my list of things to do; I've converted up the squad from the single-player campaign in the Deathwing expansion for 1st edition Space Hulk (Chaos Marauder heads work quite well for not-quite-Native-Americans), and I intend for them to be flat white over black. I've already got Two Heads Talking primed black (he went to the city before the rest of them painted their armour, so he's in black armour).

It's mainly curiosity, having seen a lot of people painting them white, just wondering why there were such different interpretions of them

That pic you posted is actually the pic i'm basing mine off, Ron on From the Warp posted it up a while back.
