    A Malenky attempt at 40K

I thought that it was time for me to start a project log for my 40k armies.

I'm going to start with my Eldar army, and this is what I'm going to start with.

And a photo of my test figure.

Later I have plans to re-paint my Space orks to look more like my fantasy orcs, but first some Eldar.

I like the weathering on the jet bike. It looks very subtle. A nice colour scheme as well. Do you have an army list you will be working towards?

This looks like it'll be good. As Fle stated; are you working towards an army list?

Re: A Malenky attempt at 40K

@ Kapeg: Thank you. The colour scheme was first meant for a Imperial guard force,
but I already had a lot of Eldar figures laying around so I thought I'de try the colour scheme on the Eldar.
With a new edition of 40k out and me not having played 40k for a couple of years I don't have a list planed,
right now I'm just going to paint some figures.

@ Kapeg90: Thank you, right now I have no list planed for any of my 40k armies, I'm just going to paint them.

Right now I'm busy magnetizing the Vyper and waiting for the green stuff to cure on the jet bikes
before I can start to paint them.
Oh, and I'm also trying to figure out how to convert warlocks and a farseer on jet bikes (and there bikes).

And if any body was interested this is what my space orks used to look like

and I want the to look more like this, but still be Deff skulls.

The space orks will have to wait until I get the first batch of Eldar figures painting.

Hopefully next update will have some freshly painted jet bikes in it.

Re: A Malenky attempt at 40K

@ glenning: Thank you, it will be a while before I start on the space orks again,
In the meantime I hope the Eldar will suffice (there may be some Orcs & Goblin figures painted also).

@ Fle: Thanks, I still have not figured out how to make the warlocks, Farseer and there bikes. I want them to have
a "Druidic" feel about them. I must confess that this log is my distraction.

I'm almost done with the Vyper, It's missing its crew and I have to touch-up some spots where the paint has been rubbed away.

The Jet bikes have been base coated now, they are ready for some highlights and some shading,
When the bikes are all painted I'll start on the riders and the crew to the Vyper.

But first I think its time that I'd finish painting the War shrine of Tzeentch I started painting so long ago.

Again the weathering is fantastic on your models...I wish I could make mine look as subtle than yours.

The blending on the canopys is really well done as well.

Perhaps you could use some Wood Elves bits on your Farseers and Warlocks to make them seem druidic?

Unusual to see weathered looking Eldar, but very nicely executed!

Dannage is currently seeking conversion bits to turn Cadian guardsmen and Orks into casualties. If anyone in the South East of England has some bits they are willing to convert or cast up, pm me regards samples and costs.

oh holy crap, those weathered eldar look beautiful. as dannage said, it's unusual to see them with washed out colors and weathering, but damn, that makes them stand out. and the painting is top notch. like it a lot.

Re: A Malenky attempt at 40K

@ Fle: Thank you, I thought the blending could be better and I'de lost some of my painting skills.
I had/have plans to use glade rider bits with dark reaper heads but I'm having problems with the bikes and that I don't want the warlocks to have robes,
because I feel it would be impractical for jet bike riders.

@ Dannage: Thanks, the colour scheme was first meant to be for an Imperial guard force, but I like how it looks on the Eldar and have no regrets choosing the scheme.

@ Kenzaburo: Thank you very much!

@ Fanny Crowbar: Thank you, and thank you for noticing my new log.

Right now I'm trying to paint a warshrine for a WOC army, but having been away in Värmland and Norway I have not had that much time to do any work.

Until I do, here's a very bad photo of a Blood thirstier I worked on a couple of months ago. Because who wants an update without photos?

    Details (slightly better photos)

Some pictures of where I live and the conditions that I took the photos under.

It will be a while before I'll update this log, I'm focusing (right now) on my fantasy battle armies.

I finally finished sculpting the bloodthirster, and I'm right now in the middle of painting the Warshrine.
When the shrine is painted I'll be selling the small Tzeentch themed Warriors of Chaos army I've sculpted
and painted. If anybody is interested in buying the army (when the Warshrine is painted) send me a PM.

    Some Close-ups of the bloodthirster.

The bloodthirster has magnets under its hooves so I can switch the base for a round 60mm or a square 50mm,
so I can play with it in both warhammer systems.

Re: A Malenky attempt at 40K

I like the weathering on those eldar kits. Eldar always seem to be painted in a clean style so it makes a refreshing change.

Also, that thirster looks ace. I've seen a lot of balrog conversions, but this one is particularly cool thanks to the little details. The green stuff around the hooves does a lot.

Re: A Malenky attempt at 40K

@ baphomael: Thank you. I like how the jetbikes turned out but I'm starting to have my doughs about the guardians riding them.
The Balrog to Bloodthirster is one of my most extensive conversion and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

I took a day of from painting the warshrine and painted up some jetbikes.
They are as-good as finished, I still need to make some touch-ups on there banners
and paint the banner spikes and the engine parts.

I don't really like the way the jetbike guardian looks and tried to figure out an alternative scheme,
the new scheme will not work for the jetbikes, but I like it so much that I'm going to paint the walking
    guardians this way.

Finally, a photo of the two guardians (that I've painted so far) together.

The Warshrine is almost finished, all that's left to do is to put some sand (paint it) and flock around the burning skulls.

So keep an eye out for a new update on my fantasy log.

Re: A Malenky attempt at 40K

@ DaHedd: Thank you. I hope you'll like the new stuff.

I've managed to paint up a Wraithlord, here is the result.
For the next Wraithlord, I'll remove a lot of the gems, it was not
until I started to paint them that I noticed that there where a lot of them
and that they stuck out quite a bit.

I've also started to assemble some more jetbikes, 6 of them will be regular Guardian Jetbikes,
5 of the will be warlock jetbikes and the last will be a farseer jetbike.

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to convert the warlock and farseer jetbikes
but I now have a clear idea of how I'm going to convert the warlocks and farseer riding the bikes.

I still have a couple of unassembled jetbikes left and I think I'll convert them into Shining Spears or just get the upgrade pack later on.

Very nice and very consistent. The colour scheme looks really good and that camo was a great idea.

Cool stuff. I like the scheme you use for your eldar. And the weathering is first class.

That thirster is awesome, by far the best balrog conversion I've seen. If the gw thirater looked like that I'd have bought one by now!
