On the flying Jerks list, don't forget to add in some imperial guard allies for a few Vendettas to complete the overload of Fliers.
A Manticore would probably do no hard to help out with vehicles, too.

I think if you want to take allies, you'd want to take them for scoring and/or staying power. Since everything is in the air, it's a relatively easy business for the enemy to wipe out whatever that isn't flying.
I'm almost leaning more towards Guard HWT or even Conscript blob than Vandetta/Valkyries or IG artilliery to be honest.
In any case, I'm holding out for the new Chaos codex to decide what my army comp is going to be, whether it's going to a Daemon with CSM ally or CSM with Daemon ally.

Anyone given much thought to taking the Skyshield Landing Pad in their Daemon armies?
Imagine Deepstriking Fateweaver, a Lord of Change (could be a Bloodthirster instead I suppose) and three Daemon Princes on it and they wouldn't scatter. Count them all as Swooping on the turn they show up as well and you got a nice big brick of nasty.
Everyone keeps talking about taking Epi in a Chaos Marine army... only you can't. He's a character.
That aside... why aren't our chariots "Chariots"? The Necron Command Barge is apparently the only chariot in the game despite ours being called one. Would make them immensely more popular.
Hey all. I am thinking of using the current crop of Daemons I just bought for Fantasy as a 40k army. I'd love some help as it seems to me that 6th is now more up my street than Fantasy is.
This means I own 40 Bloodletters, 20 Daemonettes, 20 Horrors, 10 Seekers and a Keeper of Secrets (can be modelled as almost any GD).
I also own a Sorceror and 20CSM from C:CSM.
Any chance of making a solid list? A few flying Princes and I could have something fun for club?

I'm not sure what being a character has to do with allies. Maybe you could supply some rules to back this up? Currently everything on pg 112-113 states pretty clearly that characters, ICs, special charactere, etc. are all allowed in allied contingents.
Prove it.
I'm not sure, even with being classified as Chariots that we'd see many more heralds as opposed to our MC HQ choices. Flying MCs got such a huge (and essential) buff that I don't think I'd ever, ever trade any of our greater demons for a pair of heralds.

hm weird.. the german version of the chaos space marine FAQ states that:
infantry with wings count as jump infantry
monstrous creatures with wings count as flying monstrous creatures.
You can take epidemius as long as it is the daemon list as the primary force org chart not the allied contingent
As far as i can see there is nothing saying you cant take epi as an allied HQ. Question though - Say I take Epi and 10 Plaguebearers as my allied FoC and then join epi with the PB uni pre game, how do they roll for demonic assault. As there is only 1 unit for DS'ing do they automatically come in on turn one or if you get the failed wave roll nothing happens untill they come in as a standard reserve?
So i find that the rules for Flying MC's a bit surprising. Any time the flying MC is HIT they have to take the grounded save. pg 49. That is going to get rough. Still hard to hit, but getting grounded by flashlights or grot blasters is going to suck.
From what I've read a Flying MC that is 'Grounded' only loses its Jink save, and can be Charged in the Assault Phase. It says nothing about losing the 'Hard to Hit' rule.
I suppose its still moving pretty fast as it crashes to the ground.
Rather than being accusative, Judment, I'd challenge you to be able to find an HQ that you can pull from an Ally that isn't a Character. Off the top of my head, that'd leave you with Bjorn (which may or may not be a character since I don't have the rulebook handy, but he'd be a pretty boss character).

Yeah, I was totally reading the rules wrong and slightly making assumptions based on old rules. You can indeed use named characters as allied detachments. Quite crazy.
