    Heavy Chainswords/Weapons?

As the title really, what constitutes a heavy Chain-sword or Chain-weapon? Seeing as much of 6th ed seems to be based on WYSIWYG, could I model an entire Blood Angle Assault squad to have these? 2+S and AP5 seems quite useful.

    Cheers

Well, something that is bigger and heavier than your off-the-rack chainsword. Chain axes would be the obvious guess, although since that would be a normal style for a chaos marine chain-weapon, I would probably vote for it needing to be somewhat bigger than that... like glaive-style, double-headed or such...

Question though; are you sure it is WYSIWYG-based, like the force weapons, and not a weapon type that will come with some units (say, maybe something like Chosen Berzerkers in the upcoming Chaos Codex)?

My initial thought was that it would come in to play as more codexes were released and updated, but for the time being (as an example) Blood Angels/Vanilla Marines/Orks are unlikely to be updated and the FAQ makes no mention of these weapon types. However, atm i'm not completely sure, I was taking the example of power weapons and applying it to these as that seemed a logical follow through I have asked down at the local GW and they were as stumped as me... I quite liked the idea of S6 marines is all

These are replacing weapons like evicerators for the IG priest.

I think its for things like the ork big choppa because these wouldn't fall under any other section of weapons.

Chances are, as already said, there will be more two handed chain swords coming out in the future.

Bearing in mine that 8th Ed WFB included a special rule "Sea Monster" which is still yet to be used by a single creature in GW's WFB range, I think that there will be a lot of similar things in 6th Ed which might not become used straight away - including weapons.

There are no heavy chainswords in the game yet as far as I know. Unlike the force and power weapon sections the chainweapon section does not contain any guidelines as to how to decide which model has which, so I don't think just any chainsword can be swapped for a heavy one (especially as that would theoretically allow any chainsword to be swapped for an eviscerator for free...).
    Awesome. Awesome to the head.
