I think chucking our troos out the back of a zooming storm raven is looking like a good option now... I don't think a storm raven could afford to slow down to become an assault vehicle without risking its valuable cargo.

Any thoughts on Sanguinary Guard armies in 6th? I havent picked up the the rule book yet, but I am hearing they got a boost. I hope so. I have wanted to build one for a while. I just picked up 6 boxes. Hope it wasnt a waste haha.

Solution to Dante issue: Model him with a sword.
Armies:
Blood Angels (19,727pts)
"I encourage my men to explore the philosophy of bloodshed; to understand the intellectual structure that informs their killing"
'Alpharius', Legion
The Serpent's Lair; An Alpha Legion Forum
I think I'm just going to cop out and be boring with my Libby. Instead of going for Shield of Sanguinius and Unleash Rage. It'll be Shield and a 'roll' on the Divination table. - Where 9 times out of 10, I'll go for the primaris power which is well, the old Unleash Rage but better.
Anyone see any problems with that idea?
1850pts Imperial Guard
Painted: Vendetta Gunship, 50 guardsmen, Marbo, 4 Chimeras, Manticore, Leman Russ, Valkyrie Carrier, 20 Veterans, 5 Ogryns.
1750pts Blood Ravens
Painted: 21 Assault, 10 Tactical Marines, 5 Terminators, Land Raider, Rhino
Basecoated: 9 Assault, 5 Devastator Marines, Terminator Librarian
Beyond The Gates of Antares
Don't you have to take either all codex powers or all rule book powers though, not a mix between the two?
Ok that would be cool if it's that way but the blood angels FAQ states a librarian 'may use the psychic disciplines found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, instead of those in Codex: Blood Angels. If he does so, generate two new powers from the Biomancy, Divination, Telepathy or Telekinesis disciplines'. The generate two new powers part seems to indicate that the rule book power choices overrule the codex choices you picked when generated.
BA are a funny one under 6th.
The changes to Rhinos and Razors really limits Assault Marines out of these.
The furious charge nerf has hurt jumpers who now go at I4.
DC are still junk. No forced movement, but now can't use Rhinos, jump packs are expensive and I4.
Stormravens although much improved while GW figure out who get's skyfire, still straddle that 200pt transport/gunship divide.
Sang Guard are a bit better though. The Power Weapon and FNP changes makes them more survivable to Power Weapons and Plasma.
Wouldn't know where to start now with a BA list. Assault Terminators in Ravens backed by jumpers ?
Kinda confusing isn't it? Think about Mephiston and that rule strickly RAW. Generate 2 new powers...in exchange for his 3. So, do you only get 2 rulebook powers? Do you get 3? Do you get 2 but get to keep one of his BA codex power (aka, wings).
Some of this is worded badly.
Welcome to my world! You seem to be on the same page as I am at least. Not really sure where to go personally. I used to play a razor/pred heavy BA list, so I've got some work to do to make it playable again and I'm not exactly sure what direction to move in.BA are a funny one under 6th.

Question about how the new Reserves rule affects DoA armies (I have collected and was just about to start one).
The reserves rule says that up to half (rounding up) of your units can start the game in reserve. Characters count as units. Units that are required to start in reserve (e.g. flyers) do not count towards figuring your maximum units that can be kept in reserves.
So, let's say my army looked something like this:
HQ:
Dante
Librarian
Elites:
Sang. Guard (count as troops thanks to Dante)
Sanguinary Priest
Chaplain
Troops:
ASM x 2
D.C.
D.C. Dread
Fast Attack:
Stormraven
Vanguard Vets
By my count that is 11 "units." Of the 11 units, one (the Stormraven) has to start in reserves because it is a flyer. So I ignore the Stormraven for determining how many units can start in reserve leaving me with a total of 10, correct? So I could reserve the D.C., D.C. dread (both riding in the SR), Dante, the Sang Guard, and the Vanguard. I would have to deploy the two ASM squads, the Sang. Priest(s), the Chaplain, and the Librarian.
Am I reading and interpreting this rule correctly?
Also, including Lemartes should not affect this calculation because he is not an IC and is just bought as a unit upgrade to the D.C., correct?
Thanks!
