Also, the rules for Fear are such that you only take Fear tests on behalf of units wich are in actual contact with at least one enemy MODEL that causes Fear, and if the test is failed, all models in the unit (except those that are immune to Fear) suffer the penalty. And although models that have the Fear special rule are immune to Fear, that benefit does nor extent to the unit. The idea that it does is a hold-over from 6th and 7th edition: it is not in the rules for 8th.
Kroxigor in a Skink unit are arguably a special case in that their unusual formation and composition will usually have the Kroxigor in a position to fight an enemy without being in contact with them, but I don't think that justifies the FAQ answer.

What a pick of KROK!!!
HA! BOOM BOOM!
Not a fan of the FAQ but it is what it is - my mates house rule the Skaven pack rats though as it makes NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER that 2 unit types that could be stomped are immune to stomps because they band together!
So just don't fail your cold blooded LD 9 test and you'll be fine![]()

So, wait, does this make squig herds immune to stomp as well?
If squig herds are type 'Unique' the answer would be yes.
(Book isn't on me so I can't tell you.)

Back on topic: Another reason to take Skrox is that they are a core troop, you can get your nice Krox for core points.
I rarely take them do, because:
a) I don't like the Kroxigor models
b) they are such a pain in the ass rulewise. We ALWAYS end up with loads of questions on how they would work. I imagine this goes away if you field them often enough though.

Having been worked over by a horde of Krox a couple times I can say that they can be huge can openers.
A friend runs 18 in Horde (6x3) with GW and a Loremaster Slaan w/ Lore of Light and does all sorts of nasty things to negate the ASL, increase Init and strength and movement. They get a ridiculous number of attacks and totally compacted my block of Black Knights. Getting them into squishy targets is even better/worse.
In Horde formation w/ buffs they also stack up well against Ogre netdecks.
The flip side to that is that they don't appear to have any magic weapon options so they are quite ineffective against Ethereal.
bur does fear carry over from a unit to a character? Does a character joining a unit that cause fear still try for fear?
Models (characters and non-characters both) do not gain immunity from Fear by hanging around models that cause Fear.

It all depends really, are you more scared of the giant scaly beast behind you that will hit you with an enormous club if you try to run, or are you more scared of the enemy in front of you that is about to stab you with a spear? It's the theory behind the work of Imperial Guard commissars through the ages, but generally a scary thing behind you is worse than a scary thing in front, because at least you can see where the scary things in front of you actually are.
Yes but what if the scary thing behind you is your best friend?
I know if I was in a fist fight and my best friend that just so happens to be a seven foot tall olympic wrestler was behind me, I wouldn't be very afraid of the 6.5 foot tall biker in front of me![]()
So when he shanks you first and then your wrestling mate second you can at least watch eachother bleed to death without being afraid of the situation...
Well with full command & ranks that Skrox unit is going to stick around a good long while. You could always stick a cheap Skink Chief in there with magic weapon to counter ethereal units. Ya, that's not a great solution but unlike a Scar Veteran a Skink character still works within the Skrox rules.
