Chaos on the Rise (Word Bearers and general Chaosy goodness)

Up until the new chaos book came out, I'd had a Chaos Space Marine army in every one of the 4 editions I've played through. With the horror that was the last book however I sold my army and moved on to other, better books. But with the knew ally system its time to resurrect my beloved Word Bearers. Log will hopefully be nice and picture heavy.

I'll be shooting for a 2k list, just because goals are good in a log like this, the list more then likely going to be as follows (all marks are strictly for game purposes and wont affect the fluffy look of the unit):

There is also a teeny tiny side project I'll be working on from time to time while green stuff dries or my attention span starts to wander, in honor of the new Chaos codex coming out (hopefully) soon I'll making four custom chaos lords. There will be a little list posted below to show whats done, wip, and unplanned

And finally, the Word Bearers:
For the Anointed I've always seen them as the most venerated Word Bearers, and after reading the Word Bearer novels and seeing the high station afforded to possessed who had some control over their demons, I decided in my host that would be the final test for the Anointed. The Coryphaeus is shown as the least mutated because I figured well, he would have the most control ... I'll actually write up a little fluff for everyone once they're painted, it'll add some depth to the army. These guys still need a lot of green stuff work done to them.


Here is the Dark Apostle himself, accompanied by some minions/ wound counters/ new psychic power point things? I feel as though there is still more to be done to him, but I'm not sure what and I'm worried about the model become to crowded, what do you guys think?

Hmm.. interesting indeed. I'd like to see what your plan is with these. Are you going to be adding parchments and stuff? And I like the minions/woundcounters/new psychic power points things I might need to nick that for my own apostle if you're ok with that

I considered it, and I'm still debating. While it is undeniably word bearery to cover yourself from head to toe in purity seals, i was also thinking about adding scroll work to all the armour (for hq's and sergeants at least) and maybe a small amount of parchment for everyone because its traditional, but i haven't made up my mind fully yet.

As for the minions go for it, half of my armies have warseer nicked ideas in them, ill just be proud one of mine got nicked

So small update today, the Dark Apostle now has a hood and some scrolls on his armor, he'll be primed and I'll start painting him up sometime this week:


And the reason I've managed to do so little, I've started trying to sculpt my own flamers of tzeentch, as 25 dollars for 3 seems a little over the top. This is my first time sculpting so c&c are welcome ... the reason that some of his looks black is I foolishly thought a black wash would bring out details on him .... it kinda did but over all bad idea. He is obviously still very WIP so be kind
