Grey Knights 1750 - 5th ed (Solodin army)

    40K Army: Daemonhunters
Ok bit of a funny GK Paladin list.

Not looking at building a rock list, more of a long range fire power spam, plus some dropping paladins to last minute grab/contest objectives...

I keep the paladins in reserve using draigo & the inquisitor with psychic communion...

    HQ:
Inquisitor + Terminator Armour + Psycannon + Psyker (Communion) + 3 Servo Skulls
    Draigo

    Troops:
    5 Paladins
    2 MC Psycannons
    2 Hammers
    3 MC Halberds

    1 Paladin w/ Hammer

    1 Paladin w/ Hammer

    1 Paladin w/ Hammer

    1 Paladin w/ Halberd

    Heavy Support:

Dreadnought + TL Autocannon + TL Autocannon + Psybolt
Dreadnought + TL Autocannon + TL Autocannon + Psybolt
Dreadnought + TL Autocannon + TL Autocannon + Psybolt

    Elites:

Venerable Dreadnought + TL Autocannon + TL Autocannon + Psybolt
Venerable Dreadnought + TL Autocannon + TL Autocannon + Psybolt

Grand strategy allows me to make a venerable dread or 2 scoring. Makes them great anti light tank/infantry hunters and objective sitters.

Servo skulls are used to prevent scouting or are close by objectives to assist in accurate deep strike.

    Thoughts?

Re: Grey Knights 1750 - 5th ed (Solodin army)

under 5th ed rules i'd go for 2 venerables with assaultcannons, heavy flamers,DCCW psyflame and pysbolt and make them outflank, much more fun then 5 riflemen
Have a look at my plogs and comment: Malifaux (new sept 2012)
Infinity Military orders (new sept 2012)
    Started NIDS
Imperial forces plog (IG+ GK +salamanders+ravenguard+space wolves+white scars)
    Dark Elves plog
    Tau plog
    Eldar plog

To be honest though, I don't think Venerable Dreads are worth it now due to how many points you pay for a rule which is mostly mitigated by Hull Points. I'd rather see them dropped and the Paladin numbers increased; boost a Solodin up to a 5 man squad with 2 MC Pyscannons and they can be doing some work for you.

For 6th ed I totally agree. But for 5th ed, I think it will work - if I play smartly.

I like the idea of the assault cannon + DCCW - would be pretty fun, but at the moment, I dont have any DCCW's for my Contemptors (which are my vens). and I only have 1 DCCW for my standard ones.

Hmm if I can get some before the event I'll definitely consider that though.

Oh sorry I misread you're intent, I thought you meant it was a 5th ed list to use in 6th ed My mistake.

Bearing that in mind, I'd agree with Steevn and recommend Psycannon (Assault Cannon with Psybolt) and Incinerator (Heavy Flamer with Psyflame) Venerables, they're very good.
