Hello there. A few months ago there was some chat about the mystery box set this year being a new BloodBowl (not new rules I heard though). Any more news on this at all?

If there was, you'd already know about it. Regardless, people have been hinting at a new Blood Bowl for years!
And a soft drink that can turn you into a Largazoid?

As far as I know Harry hasn't followed up on his rumour of a 25th Anniversary edition of Blood Bowl. He'd mentioned 4 teams in the box, and a tentative October 2012. As he's not continuing to cheerlead that schedule, it is likely we won't be seeing it then.
Pure speculation:
The fact that we have been frozen at LRB 6 AKA the competition rule pack, which removed the fluff, and stuff that shows box contents, suggests to me that GW may release something eventually. Otherwise we'd be getting an LRB 7...
I'm not sure tkericmason's LRB speculation is a good assumption. Necro only got one update post-Underhive, as has BFG; I don't think Epic Armageddon has had any rewrites, only errata; Mordheim has never had an update, nor Inquisitor and neither has Warmaster apart from the army book. I honestly feel that if BB comes out it'll just be repackaged with new minis, like Space Hulk. Saying that though, Blood Bowl does seem to have the greatest fan commitment of these games.
And I don't think you can discount Blood Bowl as the autumn release - Dreadfleet came like a bolt from the blue apart from some naval game rumours. Still, as long as nothing too drastic (or expensive!) is done, I won't moan!
Jervis stated that the mystery box would be 100% NOT Bloodbowl at gamesday seminar last year.

too bad, I remember the hype few months ago about a potential BB.... would have been good, but I guess, between the new box starter for 40K and the following box set of the Hobbit, it doesn't give much space for BB.
Though reading between the lines - He only said the Mystery box was 100% not BB - not that there isn't a new version coming that isn't this years mystery stand alone box

I doubt he'd mislead like that on purpose, man I'd love a new BB

While I would love to see a new edition with well sculpted plastic teams, the pattern of major game release one year, then one off the next seems to be how they have been doing it for the last 5 years (5th ed 40K, Space Hulk, WHFB 8th, Dreadfleet, 6th ed 40K). Since 6th ed 40K came out this year probably not coming. Plus they have all the hobbit stuff to get ready for the post christmas time movie release.
I really don't see why GW doesn't rerelease it. The reason i'm not buying bloodbowl is the dated miniatures, there comes a moment your miniatures are so old that new mini's will make people splash cash just because they look SO MUCH BETTER.
I know I for one would buy a new edition or redeux of the Blood bowl game. We still play alot and the only thing letting it down stopping people getting into it is the very dated GW figures. Most folk now use conversions or 2nd party figures.

Personally I like the old miniatures. For me they have great character and since I've been using them for many, many years they have a game history all of their own, which any newly converted miniatures I have are only just beginning to accumulate. My favourite old mini is Lord Borack - sadly killed against an undead team, repainted and renamed (unimaninatively) Lord Borack the
undead.
Mind you, my newly converted goblin team made from Night Goblin plastics are fast accumulating a history of their own, especially the Fanatic whirling skulled chains taken from a 40K chase vehicle.
I guess whichever minutures you want to use, Bloodbowl is quite simply a wonderfully game and if a new release would see a resurgence I for one would be a very happy blocker!

I would love to believe it's coming soon, but I've learned to expect nothing.
Just read on Bell of Lost Souls the new BloodBowl is projected for December this year with a possibility it will be pushed to early 2013

Yeah I saw that too and have mentioned it on a couple of BB forums to much cynicism since we've heard that a lot over the last couple of years. I'd be tempted to try and post something on the fantasy rumours forum but I doubt it would last long as Warseer seem to want to kill off any mention of BB here.![]()

It's been rumoured too often to retain much plausibility; besides, we have Dreadball now...
I'd heard from a couple of sources that this was coming soon. "Soon" wasn't defined though. My understanding was that it will be a one-off box though and not an ongoing release which would be a shame but I think that's the model GW seem to be opting for at the moment.
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... and then it's just fun!
