    Vehicles snapfiring and flyers

There seems to be a consensus that (whether OP or not) flyers are going to a major headache to deal with in 6th ed and ground vehicles will have their work cut out for them trying to compete. But then something occurred to me, the other day. Vehicle mobility and shooting is regulated by reducing accuracy (snap fire). Flyer survivability works the same way, meaning that these two drawbacks don't stack. So, when firing at flyers, ground vehicles will retain excellent mobility (unless they have skyfire... and then it's the other way around).

Now, it's been a while since my last game, and even longer since played games on regular basis, so I'm a bit out of the loop, but I'm thinking advantages can be squeezed out of this. Even if it's only a "let your moving vehicles deal with flyers"-guideline.

    Opinions? Ideas? Scorn?

A Character cannot allocate a Wound when they roll a 6 to Hit if its a Snap Shot.

If there is a similar rule with Flyers I don't know, can't find it.

Is a good idea if you can though.

As others have mentioned it can be quite hard for a zooming flier to get a bead on the target it wants to be shooting after the first turn being its limited to a single up to 90 degree turn and must move at least 18" and then also considering most of an aircrafts weapons are fixed forward firing so with the vehicle weapon rules considered to have a 45 degree arc of fire and then you have to consider they might have to move more than they'd wish to find room for the fliers base.

Hoverers dont have quite the same problem but of course if they slow down to get a bead on their target they're relatively easy to destroy in retaliation.

I dont believe fliers are the easy win some people seem to think really.

Agreed, Flyers are difficult to hit, but if hit...little chance of a cover save, Jink only if they 'go-to-ground', low AV, hull points - most likely lost to the sort of multi-shot heavies that have the best chance of hitting them in the first place. I know if my 4xHB Dev squad is repositioning I'll take a pot shot at the nearest Flyer. Crew Shaken or Immobilised is enough to send them careening of the table. Any Flyer that switches to Hover may as well set up a neon "shoot here" sign.
Aside from that, what does a non-transporting Flyer actually do? It can hit pretty much anything on the table, and can be difficult to strike back at without using the same type of vehicle. Compare against, say a battery of Basilisks sheltered in Ruins.
Frankly, I'd rather be strafed by Flyers than hammered with barrage pie plates.

It's not that easy though. It's the same as fighting them before, only now with BS1. Granted, they'll have to think about their movement, but for some even that isn't an issue. They can hover whenever they want and just use their 5th edition rules for a turn, which weren't bad either.

Well, many of them can't hover. I only the Vendettas (with hover, AV 12 and low cost) and Doom Scyths (with their amazingly destructive weaponry) will be a big problem. The rest of reasonably costed for their survivability/manoverability/firepower.

Although the problem with Vendettas is that they're, more often than not, accompanied by piemakers.

Vendettas do not always hit the side armour. They hit whichever arc they're firing within, as for normal vehicle shooting.
