I'm not sure about the Vyper and there seems to be limited long range AT (although Hawks and Spiders should make up for that), but otherwise it looks like it should be a decent list in 6th Ed. Have fun.
Everyone Dies. It's the final and only lasting Justice. There's no greater good than Justice; It is said correctly that law exists not for the Just but for the unjust, I bow to no one and I give service only for cause...

I'm guessing that he's taking advantage of the fact that the Vyper can now fire both its weapons when it moves? Makes it a more attractive choice next to the War Walker than it was for the duration of 5th.

How are you going to use the Dire Avengers? As footsloggers I see them mostly as a defensive unit as they don't enjoy being outside of cover. I've been considering if the Avatar + Guardian combo for objective holding now has some merit again given that the No Retreat rules have been removed.

I also agree on the long rangt AT front. With all that S 6 you're fine against AV12 or less but what if you come up against a Land Raider or Monolith? That's a lot of responsibility to put on the Fire Dragons given that their transport is a little flimsier than it was.

You might want to consider an Aegis Defence Line and quad gun if you think your opponent might be bringing along some fliers.

First of all, thanks for the comments!

The Vyper and the Walkers were actually the last units I added. I had the army penned down at 1300 (with originally 2 Hawks more, which I dropped to make room for all for light vehicles) and didn't know what else to include.

Other contenders were a squad of Harlequins or Scorpions (which both seemed too slow somehow, and too fragile), 2 melee wraithlords (same issue, really), another Fire Dragon Serpent (but I felt I had enough anti tank for my meta and needed more anti infantry), 4 Destructor Warlocks on bikes (horribly fragile for their points), 6 Jetbikes plus a Destructor Warlock (too expansive for a single Heavy Flamer template), a bunch of vibro cannons, a second Warp Spider squad (I don't have the models...), or possible Storm Guardians with 2 Flamers and a Destructor in a Wave Serpent.

True, but my local meta has been less mech-dominated that other people's.
Also, so far none of the ranged AT options in our codex have really worked well for me.
I am curious to see what Hawks and Dragons and Spiders can do side by side.

One of the reasons I went for the Vyper, together with the jinx saves. Open-topped seems to have less of an impact as well, since the first pen already killed the vehicle to 50% (or 100%, if it got glanced before). The real reason for the light vehicles however was the versatility. S6 spam kills pretty much anything except heavy armor, so they should be able to deal with everything from Terminators to imps lying in cover to enemy pathfinders to Land Speeders.

How are you going to use the Dire Avengers? As footsloggers I see them mostly as a defensive unit as they don't enjoy being outside of cover. I've been considering if the Avatar + Guardian combo for objective holding now has some merit again given that the No Retreat rules have been removed.
I intend to use the Avatar flanked by both Dire Avenger squads and the Farseer attached to one of them as the center piece of the army, moving forward into the center of the board, eating up fire (just a bit more expansive than Guardians, but better armor to make up for it, and a lot more fluffy) and telling the enemy "this is my spot, sod off" I actually expect the Avengers to die, that's why they are as cheap as possible with no upgrades. Oh, and it should keep the Farseer protected, which puts Fortune on the Avatar.

The rest of the army (except for the home objective sitters and the firepower added through walkers and vypers at the last moment) was designed to move around the slow foot blob and take the enemy in the flanks early on.

I also agree on the long rangt AT front. With all that S 6 you're fine against AV12 or less but what if you come up against a Land Raider or Monolith? That's a lot of responsibility to put on the Fire Dragons given that their transport is a little flimsier than it was.
Fire Dragons and Swooping Hawks. Give me a monolith and I'll show you a dead piece of junk once my Swooping Hawks moved past it. No, seriously, 9 attacks, that's 6 hits, 5 glances. Damn, I should really put the unit size back up to ten to make up for a few casualties...

You might want to consider an Aegis Defence Line and quad gun if you think your opponent might be bringing along some fliers.
Not worried about flyers in my gaming group right now, neither do I have the BRB yet, so I didn't really have time to look at anything regarding the purchasable buildings. Also, not really looking forward to spending money on that stuff...
