    Ankhmorpork - Discworld Board Game

I started a thread about this before I messed up my accounts and it generated a fair bit of interest, obviously it has disappeared now but I though I would bring it back! The discworld board game is based on Terry Pratchett's world as depicted in the books and films. Its a very good strategy game, very popular at our Green Dragon Games Days as well with all 4 player slots filled for each game. My favourite thing is the "random events" you can plan strategy as cleverly as you like but a dragon or a troll could come along and just mess it all up. Anybody else on here a player of this? For those that aren't i'll paste in a breif overview here...

Lord Vetinari has disappeared and different factions are trying to take control of the city. Each player has a secret personality with specific victory conditions, which means that you're not sure exactly what the other players need to do in order to win.

The action takes place on a map of Ankh-Morpork, with players trying to place minions and buildings through card play. Each of the 132 cards is unique, and "the cards bring the game to life as they include most of the famous characters that have appeared in the various books. The rules are relatively simple: Play a card and do what it says. Most cards have more than one action on them, and you can choose to do some or all of these actions. Some cards also allow you to play a second card, so you can chain actions".

I played this once towards the end of the last year and didn't enjoy it much. There wasn't a whole lot to it and it didn't do much to bring the setting to life either.

Think it's by far the better of the two games released last year.

It's a good game, simple to play and very enjoyable with a group of friends. It's also got good replay value.

I have played a few games now and think it is a nice game, easy to play, because the cards tell you what to do. So far the Randomness from UU has been a bit disappointing but the game as a whole is great. It always looks like someone might win when the city has some buildings on it.

The other game is "Guards Guards" and it is definitely the inferior of the two. I really like Ankh Morpork, its fun to play and easy to teach, with a fair amount of strategy.
