    Post-Apocalyptic table for EDEN (WIP)

Hi fellow humans, and welcome to the end of the world!
For those that don't know, french game Eden (by Taban miniatures) is a skirmish game in a post-apocalyptic setting. Fans of Fall-Out or Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road (like me ) should enjoy! Great rules and great minis, what more could you ask for? Oh, yeah, a worldwide campaign where every player influences the fate of Earth (well, what's left of it).
I've been very enthusiastic with this game lately, and in the last few weeks, I've been working on scenery. Eden plays on a 2x2 table, so to get things started, I decided to try the Zuzzy mats. Here's what it looks like at the moment (I need to add a few drybrushing strokes here and there, and to highlight the bricks some more):

If anyone's got ideas to improve it in any way, I would like to hear them, of course.

For more radioactive enjoyment, the mandatory barrels:

A trip to the dollar store, a hammer and pliers, a few minutes of painting, and you've got an eternally parked car:

Oh the irony ! a recycling ad billboard (it survived the Apocalypse just to make you mad ):

And a soon to be painted pile of junk:

    "group" picture:

I've got a few other things I'm working on at the moment. Will probably show them by the end of the month.

    C&C welcomed !

Nice stuff, that matt looks great too. What did you use to paint it?

    Thaks for the comments !

I basecoated the mat using chaos black, mixed with a bit of water (you can't use primer on Zuzzy mats because paint gets too thick in the recesses and it will crack when you roll it up).
I then drybrushed the thing with Skavenblight dinge, followed by a drybrushing of codex grey. The final highlight is a light drybrushing of Bleached bone.

The bricks were painted scab red, followed by a wash of scorched brown. I intend to give it a final highlight (probably bleached bone).

I'm working on a biohazard pond at the moment. Testing water effects for the first time. Should be finished in the next few days.

Already a great start. Eden sounds like a fun game. Hope you enjoy it. I will check back every now and again for inspiration... One of these days I WILL build a Necromunda table.

    Small update!
Not much painting on this project lately, but I managed to build a few more pieces, and I did finish my biohazard pond. For the water effect, I used acrylic gel, mixed with water and inks (brown, yellow and green). I'm pretty satisfied with the result (considering that acrylic gel is about 1/3 the price of the GW water effects), but it takes a lot more time than I expected. Here's the result:

And some WIP pics of another pile of junk, and another row of barrels:

As always, comments and suggestions welcomed!

That looks suitably dangerous. So how much terrain does one need?

2x2 is not that large, how do you like the mat so far?

Re: Post-Apocalyptic table for EDEN (WIP)

How much terrain you need depends on you and your opponent (and it depends on the size of each terrain piece, of course). Eden has optional rules for setting up terrain, where each opponent has terrain points at the beginning of the game, and each player alternates setting up a terrain piece, paying its cost. For example, a small wall would be 1 point, and a deep river would be 5 points, etc. I will probably build 2-3 more terrain elements for variety, but in most games, some terrain elements will be left off the table.

The mat is good stuff for the price. It's easy to paint and IMO, it looks pretty good. The only downside is that it is very soft: I fear that by storing it rolled up for a long time, it might keep a curved shape. The details on the brick pattern are also a bit lacklustre, but that can be fixed easily with painting.

I have had mine for years, it is Very Durable, and generaly remains very flexible, if it had been stored awkwardly, you han just leave it unrolled for a day and it will get flat and smooth again.
