Tau 6th ed Gunslinger errata V2

ok i am re posting this topic hear

Started tweaking it a bit. as i have said before im a big forge world fan. and yes i freely admit i use there ideas. hell the Strike Hardened idea is adapted from the pancake rulebook. but i would give our HQ models better survivability. still re-reading the 6th ed rule book again. some of this is me guessing from the 6th ed rule book what were likely to see

so far got rid of “surprise !” it was just to cumbersome. and tweeked the hammerhead rail gun lancing to under 18 inch.

the main aim for my errata was to

    1) was to put the codex stuff inline with the fw stuff.
    2) give iron weapons rending (like the xv9)
    3) keep the tau crap in assault but give them a way to even the odds abit
    4) Not add new units just tweak what we have
    5) give all tau models night vision
    6) keep the BS3 base line in our units

Re: Tau 6th ed Gunslinger errata V2

i'm still not sure what would be a better option for Iridium Armour for it to increase the wound profile by 1 or the toughness by one.

the main idea of this system is to better build the unit to the role you want it. Retro thrusters for fast moving attack suites. iridium Armour for taking a pounding and holding off attackers and the none option for low cost general use no frills fire power. the ass option is Mainly for the broardsides. a unit that is now given the choice of slow but purposeful or being built like a brick outhouse to stand there and take a pounding. the other choice is none.

ok still working on this and tweaking the drones will be next. i want to have a codex ready with options before i tweak any points values.
would like some feet back on the toughness / wound on the Iridium Armour core option. will probley port the xv9 drone rules from forge world over to the xv8 retro thrusters.
from know on i will be referring to

Iridium Armour suites as Heavy suites
Retro thrusters suites as Fast suites

so in the set up and balance you will have

    XV9 (fast attack)
    XV8 Fast suites (elite)
    XV8 Standard (elite)
    XV8 Heavy suites (elite)
    XV88 Broadside (heavy support)

Re: Tau 6th ed Gunslinger errata V2

    OK Drones

The tau make use of A.I contrled Droans in meny support roles

a Drone controller unit is required to allow the Drones to operate in there chosen support roles.
Drones are optimised to work with the unit they deploy with. The toughness is the same as the individual controlling them.

    “Expendable”
The loss of drones douse not count towards losses. For the purposes of moral or leadership tests.

    Shield drones. -15 points
Function to protect the Unit, intercepting the incoming fire By placing themselves in harms way. They they not only have the same Toughness as individual they accompany but the same Armour save aswell. But can not protect against Blast barrage or template weapons.

    WS-2 BS-0 S-3 T-X W-1 I-4 LD-NA SV- X

    Gun Drones – 10 points
Are designed to Add extra fire support to a Unit. They are armed with Dual pulse carbines

    WS-2 BS-2 S-3 T-X W-1 I-4 LD-NA SV-4+

    Marker Drones -15 points
They carry network marker lights and targeting arrays

    WS-2 BS-3 S-3 T-X W-1 I-4 LD-NA SV-4+

i will probable port in the XV9 drone abandonment rule

On a further note i am considering changing this from a Tau codex to a Farsight enclave codex, as i never got on with kroot / vespid
not 100% sure how to handle o'shova himself im thinking of doping the 7 man body guard team and Giving him eternal warrior and giving the dawnblade the Flesh bane and Armour bane rules, so hes geared to go against C,tan shards and calgar

Re: Tau 6th ed Gunslinger errata V2

Ok not much to add but some one said something on another topic. that got me thinking and so i worked its in to an idea i think will give the tau some hope in assult but keep some balance.
Special Rule - "Defensive Fire" All tau Assault weapons Fire at there normal BS and not at BS1 when Snap firing at Assaulting enemys during the opponents assault phase.

Should be in keeping with the Tau way of war and Make the Pulse carbine a bit more Popular. if you tweak the Fire warrior rules so you Buy the model and can field a model with the appropriate gun depending on the mission at the start of the game. this will also give a boost to sentry turrets and drones. aswell as be in keeping with the XV9 fluff of being designed to put there self in harms way.

so Tau better in assault with out upping the WS

For Farsight enclave may boost further by having pulse carbines count as pistols in CC.

What would be the point of this? Without a second pistol or a CCW, it would mean zero.
