40K Army: Space Marines

Hi all the new edition is out with some sweeping changes particularly to vehicles.

I have the new rule book but have yet to play any games but from what I have read my Aurora Chapter army may have some problems in its current configuration and I wanted to get a view from the warseer community.

I like to keep the fluff side of things as much as possible as long as it doesn't totally gimp my army and as such the Aurora Chapter are known for being very vehicle heavy. As per the codex " The Armoury of the Aurora Chapter boasts more Predators and Land Raiders than three other Space Marine Chapters combined. Their name has become a byword for armoured assault across the entire Ultima Segmentum"

I only tend to have time for 1000pts battles at the mo so that is the bracket.

Below are 2 lists the first is what I was using to good effect in the 5th Edition. The second is a suggested list to take in to account the changes in the 6th without changing the army concept too much and without meaning I have to replace all the models I currently have painted.

Are either of these lists viable should I stick to the first or would the second be better for the new rules. Many thanks for your help in advance.

Why not include some variation in the list? People might take interest in the article if the list was interesting and had some fluff behind it.

I think your 5th ed list is fine. What changes you'll need to make to bring it in line with sixth ? No one really knows yet. I strongly recommend getting some games and see how it plays in the edition, and make tweaks from there

Ok Mr. Killbeardhammer. Perhaps you could actually read the OP's first post? Aurora Chapter. Lots of predators and Land Raiders. I see 3 predators. Fluffy.

As for the list itself, I like the revised one. Although I hate expensive tactical squads, but that's just me. Now with the option to not move certain models, the lascannon becomes FAR more effective in Tacs than they used to be.

If you had read his post thoroughly you would have seen the part where he mentions the Aurora chapter has one of the largest amounts of Predators among all chapters. So the lists are in line with the fluff. (Edit: looks like Larkyn beat me to posting this =p)

On topic though what Bartali said is right, however Terminators may be the way to go due to the power weapon changes.

Hi guys many thanks for your replies.

I have the models to make either list except for the Terminators which I will have to buy but I should be able to afford that.

I will play some games and let you know how I get on.
