    Ridden monster victory points?

    Hey!

Simple question: Do you get victory points for a slain ridden monster, even if the rider is still alive?

No, they are treated as a single model unless noted otherwise. Victory conditions does not mention parts of combined models, so they are not awarded for killing them separately.

Though you would be able to get stuff like the +100 pts for killing a general, even if his dragon survives with his basic points value attached to it... consolation prize...

How would the reverse work? (ridden monsters are very rare at my local store) would you get victory points for the rider & mount if you only kill the rider?

    Nope.

You have to kill the whole model, both rider and mount.

Both rider(s) and mount must be killed to get VP.
