Cool The Tale of King Hankipanki

Things had not been going well for King Hankipanki. His drive to reclaim the land lost since his death had resulted mainly in failure. He cursed his men and their weakened state, remembering a time when he could expect any one of his soldiers to take on a goblin by himself (at least!). Now his men, although undead, were weak...

Letting out a howl of rage and smashing a palm tree with his fist he made up his mind, he was going to go back to square one, reform his lines, and teach the mortals to fear his undead horde. He would cast out the weak, embrace the strong, and do whatever it took to win victory in the field of battle.

With that Hankipanki called his generals to him and started to plan...

So this tale will follow my new tomb kings as I try to make them a respectable force. I started off getting this army through a trade and basically just used everything as I tried to figure them out, and now I'm going through the refining process.

This tale will last 10 games and the target is to have a strong competitive force by the end of it.

Here are my first two games that are not part of the tale for those that are interested, and the rest of them will follow.

    Game 1: TK vs WoC

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDFGH...ature=youtu.be

King Hankipanki marched out with his refined army and was excited to see what they could do. He had heard of a incursion of marauders to the north of the kingdom and Hankipanki asked Settra to let him handle it. The problem was the fog.

Fog was not a common thing in the desert and so Hankipanki assumed it much have been summoned by some evil magic. After trying their best to march through it for 2 days the king asked his priest to try and dispel it. They did, but as the fog vanished they found themselves face to face with the Warriors of Chaos army.

Both armies were startled and out of position, but there was no time to correct, the battle was on!

Re: The Tale of King Hankipanki

Drop spears (I'll just tell my opponent they don't have them if I need to) and change the bone giant into a second sphinx.

Ushabti may be changing into chariots too, and the regular horsemen into horsemen archers.

I'm starting to wonder if my golden mask king is worth it. It hasn't done anything for me in 3 games and at 60 points it should be a lot more effective.

It's a process, and it will be interesting to see what I end up with.

The Mask is nice just-a large chunk of BS that vampire counts got magic items that screw with leadership test. And better ect ect grumble grumble.

The Mask will work better if you sneak in 2 Deathmages maybe you can doom & darkness a unit for the Win?

Duno, doom and darkness is a very useful thing to have. Using doom and darkness in conjunction with the casket and the catapults is very nice, potentially -4LD panic tests makes rainbows appear.

I like, although I would probably drop the bone giant and try to make room for a second sphinx.

Re: The Tale of King Hankipanki

The Golden Death Mask of Kharnut is really only effective in two sets of circumstances: If you are running Death Mages to get D&D (which has already been discussed) or on a Chariot King (or Sphinx King if you feel like you need the handicap) so that you are better able to get it where you want it. I have a hard time justifying it on an unmounted King although I have considered running it with the Helm of Discord, Warrior Bane and the Dragonbane Gem as sort of a gimmicky set up. This set up still would probably need D&D to really work though.

I, for one, would not drop the Bone Giant. He has the highest damage threshold in the list, but as I'm sure you know, he's streaky as hell. When he gets hot though, he literally carves through units of all stripes with impunity. I would strongly suggest toying around with his different weapon options to see what works for you. I personally prefer Bowlossi. A roving bolt-thrower with Unstoppable Assault is, at the very least, amusing. I will say, however, that I don't think 3 Ushabti of any stripe are worth fielding. I tend to favor Bowshabti but regardless of what I give them, I personally haven't found a use for units of less than 6.

I just realized you don't NEED to take the TK lore for the hierophant. Expect to see Death in the next one

Um how do figure? "the hierophant must use the lore of Nehekhara ."

Arkhan the Black is the only Liche priest Hierophant that can get away without taking nehekhara.

    Ah crap you're right.

That what I thought it said but everyone has been telling me to take death so I reread it and I guess I missed it the second pass. Oh well, stay the course I suppose...

Are you suggesting two lvl 4s or two lvl 2s? Because I would not want to gamble on 2 rolls hoping to get D&D, and I don't like the amount of points being put into two lvl 4s just for that one spell.

2 lvl2 hero mages. But ya d&d is really all I would want out of lore of Death. Soul blight too I guess but I really like lore of light as my support Mage over death as light has more utility.

Yeah I don't know about running the the two lvl 2s. The chances of getting that spell just aren't good enough. I would rather still with TK magic and get their awesome hex (not to mention the odd augment that heals too).

I'll give it more thought, especially at higher point levels, though.
