Wood Elf Rumours

I've quite fancied a Wood Elf army for a while (even started one once but it fell aside). I'll be watching this with keen interest!

I've been waiting and waiting for new Wood elves for a very long time. And I don't want to buy or use them now because I keep thinking that they will be released soon. But that day never comes... I really, really hope that the waiting is over soon.

Harry time to update the OP. "The guy," has changed his mind about wood elves.

"I spoke to my mate again today and it's bad news. Hes been told that wood elves have been put back in favour of another army. Apparantly the book is finished and ready to go but they decided to rejig the release schedule."

Imagine my suprise.

Nine times out of ten the schedule has not changed .... it is just the original rumour that was wrong. This is one of those.

Balls. Balls, ball, balls. Been working hard over the past week on some Wood Elves, painted a dryad unit. Knew they weren't soon but in the next year would have been nice. What's the problem with a multi-book release if more than one is ready to go? I know GW want to built anticipation but still!

No one picked this up from the Daemons rumours thread so I started an account and dit it myself. Hello.

All 4 greater Deamons will get plastic kits (with head/weapon options plus wfb/40k specific bits on sprues) and that there will be "resin conversion packs"* to make "named greater Deamons".

...I think the resin idea been drop kicked and will now make it onto the frames (kinda like KF on Griffin and the Treema...ooops, wrong thread. )

Which of course suggests that the Treeman kit will include options for a named character, or at least something to make an Ancient upgrade.

Darker and more dangerous? Yes please! The Asrai have too often been presented as tree-hugging hippies when they should be feral and almost like a force of nature.

I always painted mine to be something out of a dark and wild forest. Not happy green.

It would be insane to let the HE have the treeman, thats part of the WE army.

What we need is some new rules for the eternal guards.

Doesn't it feel like you're not surprised at all? If you actually got the schedule, don't know, make up a rumor or something and spill it out?

According to rumours: WoC are pretty much certain for October and HE will follow early 2013. March 2013 was hinted for WE but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore (it never was judging by Harry's words), certainly not if, as has been mentioned, both DE and Dwarfs are due before WE. As for other armies the only rumours I recall are models for Greater Daemons, Repanse de Lyonesse, Beastmen shaman and Carnasaur Cavalry.

So what we've got is WoC, HE, either DE or Dwarfs and then possibly WE and no later than the slot after that? Does this still mean sometime 2013? With all the talk of WE wouldn't it be surprising to NOT see them within 12-14 months? Or am I putting way too much trust in rumours?

I always thought they were waiting for the Hobbit to hit the theaters, to capitalize on pop culture as they are won't to do (Zombie pirates anyone) Which is this December.... of course there are 2 Hobbit movies now ... and the first one they go through Rivendel... where there are high elves...and the next one they go through Murkwood ... next December ... this release schedule is starting to make sense lol

I'm sure in one rumour thread Harry said the next 5 releases are High Elves, Dark Elves, Dwarfs, Daemons, WoChaos in response to 1 poster but he did not state the order. Most people on the forums have said WoC first, High elves next. Leaving 3 more releases, then maybe wood elves. Or Bretonnians.

I remember that post about the next 5 armies as well, but I'm wondering now is one or more were major model releases rather than books. Hard to say with Daemons as they are almost certainly going to be updated simultaneously with 40k, and they need a 40k update far more than they do in WFB.

Also, I like Ender Shadowkin's reasoning for why they might be releasing the Elf armies in the order they're rumored to be. Having spoken to the designers in the past, they sometimes use upcoming films as inspiration if the themes look similar to an army they are due to update.

I honestly don't remember saying that .... but as it happens I do think those are the next 5 armies ... though not in that order.
I am expecting a wave of daemons rather than the army book .... just because I have not heard anything about it.
The wild card are the Bretonnians ... who I would not be suprised if they turn up somewhere amonst that lot.
