    Re: Wood Elf Rumours

Could we please discuss the Black Library books in the Black Library forum? Hate to be rude but as has been stated, this thread is for rumours.

Okay so to relate the book to the rumors... after having read the sneek preview I am somewhat concerned. The asrai in the book are mentioned as "cowering". They are afraid and weak, and dressed in "summer finery". If in fact this book is going to be what the new AB is based on I am not too keen on the potential of the elves basically being at the mercy of the forest spirits either as servants or thralls or whatever. I want some strong, kick ass, potentially somewhat hippy elves. I would be curious to see if they are waiting to see the reception of this book to see whther or not marketing wise it makes sense to distance the AB from it ot tie it right in as has been suggested.

Just as a side note I wonder if we may not see units of beasts and handlers back. If OK got the Hunter's sabretusks as individual units whny can't WE get something similar back in the list. There are "barking hounds" in the preview. I know it's justa couple short pages but it may be telling us a lot of what to look for.

    Um. hounds of Orion?
There's cheese out there friends. Super Sizzler Cheese toast with grilled Haloumi on top, and the wood elf army book is lactose intolerant.

We're clearly not reading the same thing, cause the sneak preview of Orion that I read had Priests of Kurnous performing a blood ritual upon their own king, causing him to transform into a living incarnation of the God of the Hunt. Were I an elf, or anything else, for that matter, and I saw that, I'd damn well be cowering.

It's like that already no? While they have a somewhat uneasy truce with a part of Loren, they're considered as an invader by a good chunk of it, and you won't fin an elf anywhere near these areas.

Interesting that rumours say the treeman model is more of a 'living forest' than an 'anthropomorphic tree'. Could this be a variation on the current thing that lets WE place a small forest in their deployment zone? You can buy terrain as part of your army in the new 40k book after all... It would be awesome if this living forest was like a slow moving piece of terrain, giving a buff to nearby units, that the WE could go inside like a mobile watchtower...

I have thought before that the new 40k book shows the way forward for a good few army books pertaining to usage of 'allies' - especially in regard to manner of uniqueness - like the 'allies' between the 4 chaos factions, or as you mentioned, purchasable terrain.

I actually like the new "Treeman" concept if that's true. More an Avatar or spiritual manifestation of the forest than an Ent. Many interesting things they could do with that.

If you ask me, the current treeman is pretty much what is described already. I expect the new one to be bigger (obviously) and maybe a bit more chaotic (in the prime meaning of the word), but still in the same spirit (ohohoh).

Here's something that popped into my head just now. What if the Treeman as we know it will remain, and the new model that's been rumoured is something new entirely? It wouldn't surprise me with the current trend of adding new big monsters to books.

If there is going to be a new forest dragon and a new Treeman let's make a BIG WISH () that GW edits them with a 2-3 months interval. This way we will have enough time to paint the first that comes out and still have the anticipation for a brand new WE monster to paint!

...I really cant wait for the new WE models and I've been waiting for years!!! (I guess all the special units will be redone or turned to plastic)
    Aaaargh!!!

Well there will almost certainly be two new large scale models released, as this has been the trend with new Warhammer re-releases recently. I'm fairly sure this will include a new dragon. As for anything else, well either a new giant Treeman, or perhaps a new Ariel! Or perhaps something entirely new.

A new Ariel would be nice, that is if she's in the book this time!
