I really like the idea of bringing a damsel to the battle to sacrifice. It made me laugh but in a good way(totally sick) . Makes me think of that south park about ritualistic sacrifice of female pop stars (Brittney Spears) so the corn crops will grow. Hell yes to foot knights too. I was hoping for something on ghostly/spirit knights. But that might come later...
It would be a shame if the Grail Relic and Battle Pilgrims would be removed. They are some nice models and I have no doubt they would be able to fill an interesting role in the next armybook.
Im not too sure on their 'removal' - sword and board men at arms, and the use of the reliquae as a stand alone unit (like a screaming bell/plague furnace, I understood it as) means that the 'removal' is purely mechanical. As for models, I can foresee it becoming a classic minitaure still available to order direct, although I have no proof either way.
After all, they were essentially flagellants for the lady rather than sigmar, following a dead knight. After all look to kingdom of heaven when the army left jerusalem.
My problem is that those models have a very specific theme, namely that of poor, fanatical religious zealots, and they wouldn't really fit in with units of men-at-arms who (at least outwardly) resemble professional soldiers. It would be like using flagellants in a unit of Empire swordmen, it just doesn't look good.
On the other hand, they would fit perfectly inside a peasant rabble unit. Perhaps even as some sort of upgrade, like nasty skulkers in goblin units. I was already hoping that in next armybook the low level men-at-arms would be replaced by a unit of cheap low stat models (like a peasant rabble) and a more average unit (like men-at-arms with the stats comparable to Empire State soldiers). But that's just me wishful thinking out loud *keeps fingers crossed*.
Peasant rabble would be an obviuos new unit to be introduced (when even in much larger-scaled Warmaster they are present as a distinct choice, IIRC! ) but this is not an edition of infantry, as far as releases are concerned. Still, Elves got two infanty boxes for units that where not even new, so maybe...
Also, there would be no person on Warseer happier with a swordsman M@A option than myself, I assure You.
But I do agree that one of the problems with Brets is that the Empire expanded into areas previously considered Bretonnian, at least when they were reintroduced in the 5th Edition. For example the divine aspect - Bretonnian goddess directly interened on the battlefield (the Blessing or, from the enemy point of view, the Curse) whereas the Empire didn't even get the Warrior Priest until an article in White Dwarf (if I remember correclty anyway).

A large plastic warmachine is I believe almost assured, as the current compact (Field) Trebuchet doesn't give justice to some historical relations of the scale of the machine.
Other than that, I guess we will see things unexpectable right now, beacause the current background doesn't leave much space for new units without some expansions, and these can go in any possible way.

Reading this thread made my day. No matter how little i play the game lately, no matter how many models i sell, my bretonnians sit in my loft, waiting for their time to shine.
One question specifically @Harry, though: What is Your gut feeling about the release date? Basing on all the data You have on different armies and other stuff under development?

According to the dates set out, everything is coming before WE (apart from Brets) and WE are early 2013. My gut says wishful thinking
WoC - Oct 2012
DoC (Wave) - Dec 2012
Helf - Jan 2013
Dwarf - Mar/Apr 2013
Delf - Jul/Aug 2013
Welf - Oct 2013
Brets - Dec 2013
...is my best guess, and that's a HUGE if they all come out as "rumoured". WoC and Dwarfs are the only ones I've heard ('better rumours hinting') have models ready and waiting to go. Anything more than 4 books in 1 year is highly doubtful. I'm starting to think Dwarfs will just be a wave of new core/heroes until the AB has a proper overhaul.

That would be one special character that I would enjoy smashing with my Hammerers. In fact I would forget about the rest of the game and just point every cannon, grudge thrower, organ gun I have at him, and if he is still alive after that just throw every character and unit his way until I rend his face.
I do hope they bring back the "Robin Hood" character and his band of drunken men.

This would ABSOLUTELY make my day! Some of the Bret sculpts are excellent imo - KotR (really like the horses and the extra detail on the knights), Archers (this is what I expect the archers to resemble), Peg Knights (though a few more variants in-flight would be good), and Men At Arms (I like the sculpting, just wished they had a bit more bits to variant ahem..cough.. hack.. spear tips!...cough). Characters... umm.. yeah, I'd like different sculpts and new ones, so the rumors are very exciting to me here! Some aren't even brought out of 5th yet. Damsels.. I'd like plastic kits to be able to have variations. And the Treb - ok.. this needs a lot of work imo.
Overall, Im fairly excited to read about the rumors of my favorite (albiet nastolgoic) army. Nervous, though, as well for I am expecting quite a nerf on the equipment list as seems precident by current 8th edition army books. I would kind of like to see crossbowmen back (yes, they use to have them) and more foot knights. Squires, imo, should be brought out more for uses and shouldn't be used as only scout archers (though the sculpts I do like even though they are in metal - I'm thinking more of Special unit that can either shoot *crossbow* and/or melee). It would be neat if they re-did the hunting party and included wardogs as long as the book would make them useful.

Appreciate this was speculation but is incredibly optomistic imo - models generally don't come out in december and we've never had 5 books in a year.
There is definiately a challenge in releasing DoC wave, 40k Starter, WoC, 40K CSM and Hobbit before Christmas though... so who knows.
It wasn't actually all that serious - if you go through all of Harry's latest rumour threads, they pretty much all say "before WE". WE says "early to mid 2013". Brets says "after WE". Based on that unlikely scenario, and other bits of info on release order, the above was a reasonable stab at the order of release, if not the dates. Like I say, it was a 'huge if'.
I didn't mean that at all. I just meant that I have not heard that much about them. But that does not mean that much these days as i currently invest nearly no time in trying to find out what is going on. (I have enough trouble sorting out whats going on in my own life.) I just meant 'I don't know' and I wouldn't be surprised whenever they turn up. The fact that one rumour has them after Wood Elves does not mean much. The fact that not much has been heard about them does not mean much. We had not heard a thing about High Elves until I started saying they were next after WoC. They were not in the picture at all. No one had heard anything. Doesn't mean they were not being worked on. So when I say they are a wild card ... I mean they are in the mix somewhere. Right now anyones guess is as good as mine. (My guess was sooner rather than later).
Yes, but you understand that all those rumours are from different people and they can't all be right. Clearly some of them are completely wrong ... Like Wood Elves ... so trying to make up a release order by cross refenencing these rumours is a pointless exercise. Right now we know what is next and have some details of the models. We know what is after that and have some very sketchy information. After that we know a couple of other things are being worked on and the information is even more speculative. This is the way it has always been. By the time warriors of Chaos are released we will have more solid information on High Elves and a clearer picture of what is coming after that. Even when I devoted lots of time to finding stuff out I was only ever able to predict the next six months schedule with any accuracy. We have rumours going on here for the next 5 or 6 releases ... thats going to happen over a good deal longer than six months. If anyone gets these in the right order it will be blind luck. you might as well 'pull them out of a hat' at this stage. You have just as much chance of hitting on the right order as trying to apply any logic or reading anything into the rumours. Take Dwarves ... if they are getting a big overhaul (and that is a big 'IF' as we don't know that for sure ... its only me that is saying that) then they are going to be a bit like Dark Eldar were for 40K the army that everyone thinks is next because we keep hearing so much about them but they never arrive... because they are a long project. They will turn up when they turn up ... which (IF I am right) could be a while yet.

Well, to be fair, the "release dates" came from one or two people. One was saying "before WE" to most armies, and the other gave a hint as to when WE may be released. I was honest enough to say it was conjecture on my part, but that's part of the fun of rumours, isn't it? If we were right, they wouldn't be rumours, they'd be a release schedule
I'd heard that Dwarfs and Emp models were being worked on at the same time and that both already had boxes printed - this was way back shortly prior to the Emp release confirmation (which had a load of dwarf fans disappointed!) Again, conjecture on my part, but having models manufactured would indicate a fairly sure stance on an army. But, as I said above, the more I hear of "major overhaul" the more I think the Dwarfs will get a wave of models to replace some shocking incumbents, prior to any big AB reveal.
But you're right, outside of WoC, it's all very very sketchy and mostly optimism from army fans.
Well now that is a rumour.
But, as I have said, ... it is only me that is saying this so if I am wrong ... you could be right .... they could be much earlier.... the more I hear of "major overhaul" the more I think the Dwarfs will get a wave of models to replace some shocking incumbents, prior to any big AB reveal.
Thats rumours for you.![]()
