No, I do too. I was gone with FW being the producer of huge monsters as it gave a sense of rarity and exclusivity to what should be terrible and magnificent monstrosities that the average person wouldn't run into walking around the Warhammer world.

Nowadays every neighborhood child in Altdorf rides around on their rich daddy's demigryph. The keeping up with the Joneses' monsters thing drives me a little nuts. It also messes with the scale of the game in the way I perceive it.

I still have yet to get a game of 8th in yet, has the inclusion of monsters and the points they suck up diminished the total model count and epic feel of the armies at all? I know when I played back in 5th that it had a good feel to it in terms of a battle vs being a skirmish.

Larger monsters are more 'realistic' sizes, and there is no doubt they are impressive, but yeah it is a bit impractical to paint, transport and play with a lot of things these days... I had no problem with the older greater daemons being about the biggest thing you could get. They look quite sad now compared to most things.

I'm talking about the size creep take the empire knights for an example they were normal sized when they were released now people cry about them being to small. Theyhavent gotten smaller everythign else have gotten bigger, the so called heroic 28mm.

and you dotn get more value as you either get fewer minis in each box, simply have the boxes up priced or both.

To be honest, warhammer wizards should be even more rare, and look at your gameplay tables since... forever. I would hate that the rarity of the monsters on the table would be linked to how rich the players are. I like that the option's there, and the fact they're not exactly the best choices most of the time (bare dual hydra, dual abomb, or destroyer) seems sufficient that we don't see them all the time. Some are good enough that you do (warsphynx), but most of the others (the VC ones, the OK ones, the dragons of all ilks, the arachnarok, etc etc) are certainly not a "must include" occurence.
I'm really fine the way it is now.

I agree with you there. I'm kinda glad the goblins got back to their smaller size, honestly. The enormous 5th ed ones didn't fit their stats at all. Really, 5th ed goblins and skaven plastics were the first real offenders, they started the whole trend.

I think there's little doubt taht they're going to join the club of the big kits next year though, at which point you old ones will make fine marked demon princes, so no real point dwelling on them

You can purchase a regular chariot and the Hellflayer chariot and build an Exaulted Chariot. I purchased the Exaulted Chariot and built it to come apart so I can have all 3 variations. Worked out well except for the fact that it only comes with giant base, so to run normal chariot I have to scrounge up a 50 x 100.

Probably. I don't have a problem with them creeping up towards the size they would have been in the first place, if GW had the technology in the late 80s.

From the 40k thread, they've got all 4 greater daemons in plastic sometime after June next year and warpstalker/fury dual kit as well.

Those are somewhere around two years away. I am sure that will be a whole nother thread nearer the time. .... probably best if we keep this one about the recent wave of releases.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Soul Grinder is completely out of place in Fantasy Battle? I didn't like the model to begin with, it looks like something out of the DooM computer game. Also, the size thing bothers me as well, larger, toy-like models seem to be the order of the day. Personally, I've always thought of the bigger Forge World figures as collection pieces. I'm getting their LoC, but I won't use it for playing. Transporting it would be a nightmare.

Yep. Can't say I've heard anyone else on the internet for the last two weeks say exactly the same thing over and over again...

Yeah it's a kick in the teeth compared to what every other update until now has brought other armies. Let's face it; If the SG had been part of Daemons in Fantasy from the start there wouldn't have been much complaint about - inserting into Fantasy right now, though, feels lackluster not so much because of what we are getting (a very futuristic looking machine thing that everyone have comfortably associated with 40k up until now) but on the contrary it gives (at least me) a soar after-taste because of the stuff we're clearly not getting (as a result), or rather; the stuff we could have gotten instead.

All the variants of Slaanesh Chariots compensate to some degree that for that, of course. It's easy to forget that we got cool new sculpts for PBs, Screamers, Flamers and Nurglings, and 3 nice Slaanesh Kits too - I say it's easy to forget to be happy about this, because it's overshadowed of the total tacky-ness of the 'new' Flamer-rules and the blatant 'added sales' strategy of the SoulGrinder.

I really think they went unnecessarily far with Screamers too.. But this is all deeply off-topic of course..

the worst part is the defiler would've looked less out of place in demon armies then the soulgrinder.

Not so fast, young Harry Skywalker, Obi Wan Hastings posted this in the resurrected Contigent Thread:

As for the allied contingents rumour, and THAT thread on 40k .... nothing to see here move along.
That's a giant monkey wrench thrown in our collective expectations if I ever saw one.

    Hmmmmmmmm...

Then it would be logical to suspect:

    Chaos Space Marines (September)
    Warriors od Chaos (October)
    Chaos Deamons - 40K (November)
    The Hobbit (December)
Daemons of Chaos - WHFB (January)
