    @dark eldar players question re Rangers w/ Haemonculus and wargear.

    Theres a good synergy here rangers with nightfighting, haemo would take a hexrifle. Haemo's also appeals as cheaper hq to get other DE units i want (scourges/voidraven).

    Wonder if anyone has any advice on what other wargear i should give him? Shattershard looks like a good counter for anyone who flanks, deepstrikes or rushes in to h2h but if the enemy got that close the rangers may well be broken by shooting before they can shoot back, is it too many points in a 1500pt army or is it generally as effective as it seems on paper?

    Well I was planning on testing out this:

    Farseer /w Stones of Warding, one cheap psychic power (to be traded for a Divination Power probably the Signature Power Re-rolling failed to hits or 1/6 chance of no cover saves)
    5x Pathfinders

    3x haemi's each with Venom Blade & Hex Rifle

    (each haemi starts in a Dark Eldar unit, such as Reavers, Scourges, Hellions, leaves his pain token, and joins Rangers)

    Haemi's sniper is assault so can still fire it after moving, once Haemi's join Pathfinders they don't stop them from shooting because 6th edition guys who didn't move, didn't move even if other parts of unit did. Use the re-rolls to hit or ignore cover saves Psychic power on whole unit. If you need to split fire the Haemi's can leave unit and still fire same turn (go assault sniper Rifle).

    If the unit gets assaulted, it has 4x Venom Blades (sort of) making 14 attacks, that wound on a 2+, In addition to Snap Fire shots.

    Re-roll to hits on snipers that go to AP1 on a 5+ to hit and get to Allocate when you hit with a 6, then further more rend.

    Rangers don't have Power From Pain, so cannot benefit from the Haemonculi's pain token.

    That's why he said he starts them in de units before joining the rangers.

    And who said anything about the rangers benefiting from Power From Pain?

    I thought that was what the OP was referring to as "synergy with rangers". Because, IMO, there really isn't any. He's better off with venomblade and shattershard in a raider.

    Would the rangers become fearless once a haemo becomes fearless?? Plus a haemo can bullet catch for the rangers, not the best use of points, but if you don't want rangers to die.....

    Doesn't a character with Night Vision confer it on the unit he joins? If so, that might be the synergy - Rangers don't have it, and Night Fighting became more common in 6th.
