Wouldn't have guessed that from the trailer, which makes me a bit nervous.
I'll keep an eye on this, but for the time being I have higher hopes for Xenonauts.

It's not immediately obvious from the trailer, but it is a tactical game that has its roots in the original X-Com. There are some differences, but based on what I've seen and heard you'll instantly recognize the roots when you play the game. The official website can be found here - http://www.xcom.com/enemyunknown/

I'll note that the "actiony" combat sequences in the trailer may come from the game play. I've seen mention that you'll have the ability to view at least some "spectacular" actions - such as, say, head-shotting a Sectoid - then the game might zoom in for a close up of the action. I don't know how common this will be, though, and given that Firaxis is making the game I suspect that there will be a way to turn it off when you start to find it bothersome (since Firaxis is a strategy-game oriented bunch).

There are differences - you only have one "proper" base, for instance (though you can apparently build listening posts around the world) - but the core should be the same.

This videos gives a better look at the actual gameplay (2nd half). It actually looks pretty cool for now.
