    Rich's Grey Knights (Red)

    Howdy Warseer folks,

I've been collecting 40k for a while now and have begun to start up a new army, unfortuantely/fortunately it's Grey Knights. Obviously with 6th recently happening I think it's going to shake up the mix a little with our friends gaining some impressive bonuses from Psychic powers, Terminators becoming more survivable and Dreadknights becoming even more deadly than before. I've seen a lot of lists out there and I really want to stick to a foot slogging ground army with Strike Squads at its core - just cool models and one of the most powerful Troop choices in the game albeit one of the most expensive.

The list below is largely untested and will probably evolve as time goes by:

    HQ: Librarian
    Inquisitor?

    Elite: Purifiers x10 (Halberds/Psycannons/Rhino)

    Troops: Strike Squad x10 (Psycannons/Rhino)
    Strike Squad x10 (Psycannons)
    Strike Squad x10 (Psycannons)
    Terminators x5

    Fast: Interceptor Squad x8 (Incinerators)

    Heavy: Dreadknight
    Dreadnought
    Dreadnought

So as stated earlier - Red Knights colour scheme below. I've gone away from metals completely with these models as with my Eldar previously so have a look and let me know what you think!

Next up finish the squad and move onto my first dreadnought.

I like, looks different. The red and white have been painted really nicely, but the yellow sword looks a little flat. Overall very good.

Very interesting - I've got to say I would have left the feet red as well, and the sword could benefit from some work, but overall it's a promising and characterful colour scheme

Thanks guys, the shoes definitely have been a polarising item so far. Either loved or hated. Yup, the swords are needing highlighting, it has to be subtle because of the inordinate amount of detail within these models but I'm thinking just layered edge highlighting.

Like anything I think paint schemes becomes easier as you have more models so find below the first combat squad:

I've got my Contemptor, there a lot of lines on this guy so I hope persevere with the highlighting. Hope to get it up soon!

Wow! I love that scheme! It looks so crisp on the armour!

Can't wait to see the contemptor painted up.

Slowly getting there with my Contemptor dreadnought, this was a trial of patience for sure with the number edges and amount of highlighting but I'm happy just need to finish off the base. I was a little worried about how the metal would work out, I was aiming for deep brass without using metal paints it needs work but is getting there.

I always look at the pictures in a plog first and then go back and read the text. When I saw your dreadnaught the first thing I thought was how good the brownish metal areas look and I wonder how you did them. Then I read your comment above - I think you have pulled it off successfully! Please can you explain your technique?

The Red Knights are looking great by the way, like eltanko said, I think you need to work on the yellow swords though...they look a bit flat compared to your stunning red and bone armour (and metal).

Looking forward to seeing this plog develop

    Thanks Fle,

It's embarrassingly simple: Black Undercoat/Scorched Brown/Steel Legion Drab Highlight/Black Wash

Do a quick tidy up to follow

Of course feel free lol, the amount of techniques I've learnt from this site - it's about time I gave a little back.

    Re: Rich's Red Knights

Another quick update, have finished my Brotherhood Champion or whatever I feel like at the time when he is done - I'm really not liking the bases so I need to seek some inspiration from the forums and figure out how to put together the detailed bases around, happy with the colours though.

Also almost finished the first Strike Squad! Wow there is a lot of work in these guys, highlighting everything is taking it's toll but the colour scheme is looking better as more troops come together.

    Brotherhood Champion:

    Enjoy!!
