Heinriche(sp) Himler?
Otto Scorenzy(sp)
Otto Skorzeny is your man. Rescued Musolini from Gran Sasso in Sept 1943 with a Glider assault.
Lt Von Berlepsch was supposed to take Musolini but because of no radio between aircraft and cumulus clouds, it meant the aircraft got seperated, leaving Skorzeny to do the job.

Oh, good idea, but it might be a broad topic. Should we limit it to WWII or just keep it open to any historical question?

Well, the title says "History Chain Quiz", so rock away. Try to keep the questions at a reasonable level, though, not like "What was the third Emperor of the Quin dynasty called?"
So is it my question or Zywus's?Originally Posted by Cpt. Drill
I know he didn't spell it entirely correct, but he did get the gist of it correctly.

In case we decide to limit the thread to WW2 i may aswell continue the theme.
What was the codename of the planned German invasion of Gibraltar, attacking through Spain?
I thought it was Operation Herkules, but I'm gonna go with Operation Felix.

Ok, here goes....
When was the last German para operation of WWII? And for bonus points what was the Operation called!?

Was it Operation Fruhlingserwachen in 1945?

My evidence says otherwise, but if you've got anything to back up your answer then by all means post it up!
Operation Fruhlingserwachen was Germany's last major offensive in the east, mounted in Hungary for the area of Lake Balaton with a view to recapturing Budapest.

Good to see another WW2 chain quiz
The invasion of Crete was the last German parachute operation due to the high casualty rate. I cant remember the name of the operation though.
Do you mean fallscirmjäger operations, or actual parachute drops?

You're all wrong.
The last German parachute operation in WW2 was during the Ardennes offensive, to help cause confusion behind allied lines during it. As for what it was called, I, sadly, have not a clue.
Defiance hurled at Cao Cao's mighty host
arrayed near Long Slope proclaimed Zhao Zilong,
a valiant man, and peerless he stood till.
At Lolja another hero faced,
alone, another host, and Wen Yang's name
was added to the roll of famous people.

I seem to remember something about a small scale german para operation during the ardennes offensive but it was hoplessly over optimistic.
Grrrr.....beaten by a matter of seconds
Lafeel Abriel gets it!!!
Operation Stoesser was the name, and was to protect the open flank of 1 SS Panzer Corps by dropping in and blocking major roads.
