    Reaver Jetbikes

Are they now able to first move 12" and then turboboost 36"?

If they can do that, are they able to use their blade vanes, caltrops etc when turboboosting?

    cheers
    John

Yes, and yes. And don't forget the ability to ignore dangerous terrain tests and get 3+ cover saves, all while boosting.

    Re: Reaver Jetbikes

Isn't the save reduced to 4+ (jinx)?

Ok, another thing on the reavers, Unit of 9, 3 cluster caltrops, 3D6 autohits at S6! Will that autohit flyers and flying monster as well?

    Re: Reaver Jetbikes

Jink is 5+, +1 for Skilled Rider, and +1 for turbo-boosting, so 3+.

Cluster caltrops have no effect on vehicles.

...I'm not sure offhand on their affects against Flying Monstrous Creatures, sorry, I'll have to review the text.

As a supplementary question, how are the wounds from blade vanes/cluster caltrops allocated against the target unit? Can you chose where you hit the unit during the turbo boost (so first wound on meltagun in middle of squad, followed by closest model to him etc seems kinda cheating), or are they allocated from the front of the unit, where the front is the side from which the attack hit home (this is how I have been playing it)?
My random painting log: HereBeDragons' Paintathon

    Painting target 2012: 212 models. Number complete: 212 !!!!!!!!

Models to paint this year (2013) so far: 266 Number complete: 16

I have been playing them the same as you, move 12" in the movement phase to get the angle of attack and from the start point to the end point is the wound alocation taken.
Seems the fairest way to do it.

What happens when I fire att them with Hive guards, do they loose all their cover saves ? (since hive guards ignore cover saves unless you are touching the cover)

    Re: Reaver Jetbikes

Depends on how it is worded exactly. If it is touching cover then I would say no as you are touching your bike and that is providing the cover. But if it explicitly say Area terrain then yes it would iignore it as it is not a cover save provided by area terrain. I have heard both but I do not know which is right.
I'll think of something appropriate soon enough to put here.

I'm sorry. You can't claim your own bike is providing cover. That is ridiculous. If Jink is a cover save you'll lose it thanks to the hive guard's rule.

The bike is providing the cover save in a sense (and I'm pretty sure the rider is touching it!), but it's not terrain, so you can't use it against impaler cannons.

    Re: Reaver Jetbikes

No, the Impaler Cannon only ignores cover if you are in cover or touching cover but the cover is not between you and the Hive Guard. This in no way prevents you from claiming a jink save.

That's not right; it ignores any cover save other than terrain you're in, or terrain you're touching between you and the firer.

See the Tyranid FAQ, 4th page, first entry.

    Another thing...

I didn't see anything that made it unable to move 2d6 in the assault phase, making it 12" move+ 36" turboboost + 2d6 " assault move

    Re: Reaver Jetbikes

What Dalmuti is trying to say, I think, is that you need to re-read the last few sentences of the turbo boosting rule, in particular the one about voluntary actions and how you can't do them.

    Re: Reaver Jetbikes

Bladevane attacks are resolved using "random allocation" - BRB page 15

It's worth remembering that you can only do the bladevane attack during your 36" turbo boost move and not during your 12" regular move.
