It's likely that the Wraithguard will follow the Grey Knight example (Termies to troops) and consolidate their current 400 point unit into an easier to access Troop option (perhaps even taking the D.Eldar example and requiring a certain Special HQ choice to do so. In such a case, Cataphracts might be nothing more than 'elite' wraithguard, similar to what Trueborn were to Warriors. That said, if rumours make them quadrupeds, then perhaps Cataphracts will take up FA and Everguard will become Elites.

That makes a surprising amount of sense. Helps Iyanden themed armies have wraithguard with some degree of flexibility.
As for the Cataphract, the word itself does simply mean 'armoured' or 'completely enclosed' so it wouldn't necessarily have to be a cavalry style model (despite the historical equivalent being a horseman). So a more heavily armoured or CC wraithguard upgrade/ equivalent would make sense.

Not liking how everything seems to be getting pushed back from the early rumoured release date althought it is perfectly understandable.

Ah, I think I must have missed that and was assuming based on it being a dual kit with Wraithguard. By the rumours though you are correct.

Nah, Cataphracts have no legs because with them they might be some use to us. They're jsut gonan flop about at your board edge waving their swords ineffectually whilst costing 40 points each. I heard it from a friend who heard it from his friend dog's uncle's sister's owner's third cousin twice removed on his mother's side. So it's totally true.

Quick glances at box set artwork may or may not be accurate.

It's quite possible that the GW employee saw only the "fluttering bits of cloth" but didn't notice that these are wrapped around the models' legs.

What's interesting is that this description matches the Shadow Spectre aspect warriors. In this case these models are similar but with a more assault-oriented armament.

I still maintain that the source got some of the dual kits mixed up. He may have been going by memory after a few quick looks in a bin or a crate.

And they're lees than a year old, the kit would have needed to be in the design phase almost the same time as the resins. Shadow Spectres aren't gonna get a new kit

GW have stated they won't be taking forgeworld designs and turning them plastic so I don't think they will show up. Plus CC wraith guard have been hinted at for a while.

I thought to Spiders and Spectres because they both have a "jump pack" and a massive assault shotgun... But if GW stated they won't take FW designs, my "ever" turns to never, I presume...

I couldn't tell you when/where this was stated but it has been the position coming out of the design studio for a couple of years. Hence no-one is expecting the eldar flyer to merely be a plastic nightwing or phoenix - the GW studio will do their own take on it. Makes sense - forgeworld capitalise on their design work and the customer gets a variety of options- plastic kit or resin model.

Well, Jes Goodwin did say he would like to update the Nightwing to plastic, because the resin-one is too thick. But I guess they still would do some changes - why make one unit with two nearly identical designs if you could have 2 units with 2 slightly different designs instead?

I think what GW said is that they wouldn't turn FW kits to plastic. But like they've done with the Wave Serpent, they do update units with new models.

There is a FW Tau model which has a unit entry in the codex. (My take is this might actually be a new plastic kit taking over a FW model, and before anyone yells GW doesnt cannibalize FW...yes, they do, they have, and they will.)

From Stickmonkey in the tau rumor thread, if they do it with tau they can do it with eldar. Both the phoenix and nightwing lacks missile which similar flyers have (storm raven, razorwing), this imo warrants an update.

Lets not forget that while the Eldar flyers saw their introduction into the game as Forgeworld models the ideas do not belong to Forgeworld at all. The flyers originally appeared in the 40k universe in Epic 40,000 as studio made models. So I'd say the not doing forgeworld kits statement would not count in this case. If they do them they'll be the studios take on them.
