Flyers inbound

Just got some info from my regional distributor. He claims the next wave of flyers is close. So perhaps no CSM after all.

the chaos flyer I'm told is possibly the month after with 6th.

Hmmm... CSM are rumored to be scheduled for the beginning of September correct? Is anything rumored to be scheduled for the beginning of august? I could see flyers that first week of august with flyers rules in the latest white dwarf.... that would be nice cause the thought of IG and NEcron flyer spam makes me sick to my stomach.

Any idea whether the "Eldar" flyer is the long awaited Dark Eldar Void Raven, or a new Craftworld Eldar Flyer?

As stated in a previous thread - my source told me that the Chaos Codex was done, had been circulated around head office and was due for shipping this week. However, it is possible that they could release it September 1st with Flyers for August.

Frankly, it would be a good thing - as the current armies without Flyers are pretty screwed on the tournament scene - especially with this necron filth flying around! GW is obliged to get non flyer armies updated quickly so that they can still play a good game - so with that in mind, as much as I want Chaos in August, I believe it's a smarter decision to put the flyers out first.

I have heard that it is a Craftworld Eldar Flyer, but alas, don't have any further info for you all.

Suits me fine as my Ulthwe could do with the help

This. GW has done it before. After all, the month release of 6th edition also had a huge wave of Finecast. Could be fliers at the start and Chaos somewhere in the middle.

Rumor I heard was that Chaos Daemons was getting a flier and the Eldar one was going to wait for later... Tau and Tyranid fliers seem solid though, according to all sources.

A Craftworld flyer might not be bad, though - heck, new models are always good when it's a multiple race release. Options for several groups all at once is a substantial win for GW and the players.

To be fair, however, the rulebook doesn't impact on model manufacturing at all. Codex releases involve a fair number of plastic kits, and flyers have been 100% plastic so far. That's pretty much direct competition for floor space at manufacturing time, even with extra time for product (back in June) with no plastic kits released in july (though that would mean extra storage requirements).

To be honest, I'm completely fine with this as it gives me another month to reach my goal of getting most of my Chaos army painted before the release (so I can feel more justified in buying new, shiny stuff!). It also supports the earlier rumour that there will be a new Chaos (Daemon?) Flyer next month - it wouldn't surprise me if we saw the rumoured plastic Greater Daemons come out, actually. I could do with a couple of new Bloodthirsters...

How can CSM release in the same month as the starter set? They normally release 2 months after the rulebook comes out.

Just because it normally happens, doesn't mean it always has to happen. We've recently heard about a potential change to the typical release schedule, so until we actually see what GW "can" and "can't" do, I wouldn't make any assumptions.

GW isn't obliged to do anything. It's in their best interests, probably, but certainly not an obligation.

There's a couple of Vultures in the new rulebook, towards the back, that arent the FW kit.

Could be conversions, but I wouldnt be surprised if its a new kit.
