    Dark Eldar...a few questions.

As most DE vehicles are open topped(which makes them assault vehicle), skimmer & fast...what is the maximum move a DE vehicle can make and it's passengers still eligible to assault? Wyches get a +4 invulnerable/dodge save against close combat attacks, what is there save against the incoming fire from overwatch shots?

6", and that's only if they started the turn already embarked, however, the passengers can now disembark 6" out from the access points so that makes up it somewhat.

As far as getting your 4+ invul from over watch, not going to happen. They are not CC attacks, they are shooting attacks.

But the overwatch shots are done in the close combat phase not the shooting phase.

Wyches get a save in close combat, not for everything that happens in the assault phase.

The wyches aren't in close combat when overwatch is fired. Indeed, it's entirely possible that they will never reach close combat if they fail their charge.

Is not overwatch part of the close combat phase gentlemen?

The Wyches get their save once they are engaged in close combat (which happens after they have successfully completed their charge and in contact with enemy models). The shots from overwatch are take before the chargers are moved. The Wyches have no save. You have already been given this answer.

There is no such thing in Warhammer 40k as the "close combat phase". Wyches get their save against wounds caused by close combat. Overwatch wounds are caused by shooting and are not caused by close combat.

With regards to dismount distance it's worth noting that in 6th movement for skimmers is measured from the base, pivots are done about the centre, and dismounts (and shooting) for an open-topped vehicle from the hull. This means you can get a few extra inches in by pivoting the raider if you deploy it side on initially.

PG 21 BRB " An overwatch attack is resolved like a normal shooting attack.."

Pg 27 Dark Eldar codex "Dodge (4+): Whyches have a 4+ Invulnerable saving throw against wounds caused by close combat attacks."

As such Overwatch is Shooting attacks and Dodge is for Close combat attacks

    Argument done.

Also saying Gentlemen doesnt make you right..Am I right Gentlemen?

    Hope this helps
