Warriors of Chaos Rumours

In an effort to pull together what few rumours we have …
I have started threads for each of the armies rumoured to be somewhere in the pipeline.
I will do my best to keep the first posts updated as more rumours appear in these threads.
I have tried to remember as much as I can of what has been posted so far.
I will have missed or forgotten some of it ... so, any rumours that have been posted please just remind me ‘who’ said ‘what’ and I will update this first post.

There are rumours that they will come in Q4 This year (Hastings) October (Avian, Eldargal) End October/start November (Harry) December (Darnock/Birdy, MsDarkness) Just in time for Haloween (Scoopdeta)
Some talk around the interwebz that WoC may be delayed.

Rules:
The Storm of Chaos. They think its all over .... (Harry)
Archaon has been redone and his story will be the backbone of the storyline for the new book. It will look at his re-emergence from the chaos waste and the gathering of another Army to march upon the Empire.
The book will also focus more on several of the larger tribes. Not a huge focus, just some background stories.
We will see a real Germanic feel with the book, in regards to the savage marauding tribes.
There will also be renewed focus on the Chaos Gods and independent heroes for each one of them. People will be able to tailor their Army to run on a single God easier than before. (Birdy via Harry)

Van Horstmann in as a special character can use Light and Tzeentch magic. (MsDarkness)

Models:
Plastic chariot/warshrine. (Hastings, Harry, NatTreehouse, Scoopdeta, Darnocks Birdy)
Chaos Warshrine- This will be the big kit for the WoC and will be similar to what was released for the Empire in regards to their altar. It will be a large kit that has options for each of the Chaos Gods. The sculpt will be on the same base size at the war altar. (Birdy via Harry)
New Monsterous cavalry unit. (Harry, Birdy via Harry) Not sure if this is the Dragon Ogres or something else on top of or instead of the dragon ogres.
Don’t be surprised if there is a few monsterous cavalry options. (TheDarkGeneral)
Monsterous options for chariot steeds and warshrine.(Valdaraukar)
Plastic Dragon Ogres. (Hastings, NatTreeHouse, Harry)
New poseable Dragon Ogres similar to the Minotaur sprues!!! YES!!!! Finally options for Xtra Weapons or Great Weapons and larger models that represent what a Dragon Ogre size wise should look like! And lil' bitz for "marked" units!!!(TheDarkGeneral).
On Bigger bases than current Dragon Ogres. (Birdy via Harry)
I vagually rememeber a description I was given of the Dragon Ogres a long time ago. It sounded like the bodies were a lot more solid and stocky more rhino that dragon ... The description reminded me of a zoat more centaur like with the ogre part of the body very upright and at right angles to the back of the lower body ... quite different from the current models. Also wearing armour that made them look much more part of the Warriors of Chaos army. (Harry)
I've heard that the plastic dragon ogres are very old ones that were declined from the previous release but that they've been reworked a little. I've also heard that from the play test rules there is (currently) an option to mount a chaos knight on them! I've also heard some plastic chaos ogres (which are also older sculpts) may also be getting released this time around and that they're "not very good"...(Birdy via Darnok)

Egrimm Van Horstmann has been resculpted. He comes mounted on an awesome new dragon sculpt. (Birdy via Harry)
Zoat's for Chaos (once again) is indeed a rumor that I heard along with new monstrous cav for chosen style marked knights! ... Snip ... (Zoats are always associated with wood elves) ... Snip ... in truth Chaos could take Zoats back in 3rd Edition from the Slaves to Darkness & Lost and the Damned Chaos books. (TheDarkGeneral).

I'm still wondering if the "Female Witch" will wind up being Dechala, because if they re-did her model, these days I think it would be awesome. I guess that kind of falls under wish-listing...but still.

Pewp. Dechala was a cool character - Very Masque...esque. And with the way they styled the newer daemon models and the newer WoC models (i.e. the sorcerers), a new sculpt of her could look amazing...oh well. Was never really a fan of her older model as much as her character...Maybe next time.

Not sure I follow that - how difficult is it to do so now? Pick unit, apply mark from chosen god, done. Or do you mean that going single god is going to be a more viable choice than now?

As a man who has collected four seperate Chaos armies, one for each God .... I can be forgiven for small outburst.

I would think. So clearly ALL that is not happening. Hastings pretty much nailed this release months ago. Give or take the odd model.

First of all, thanks so much Harry.

Now on to the business... I would be very disappointed if the big, new, plastic release turns out to just be the warshrine. It seems much more practical that they make the warshrine a combi-kit with the chariot, especially if both the chariot and the warshrine can opt to use special beasts to pull them instead of the standard chaos steed.

Next, I kind of hope a new monstrous cavalry unit is nothing more than the new dragon ogres. If they add new monstrous cav units to the already existing chaos knights, dragon ogres, and marauder horsemen, I think it will just end up lessening the significance of each unit. However, I will hold off total judgement until if/when it happens.

Archaon being remodeled sounds awesome. Same goes for Van Horstman.

Not that this matters but I would just like to place my bets and speculate on who the god-specific characters might be. Archaon/Undivided (pretty much a given), Van Horstman/Tzeentch (also a given), Arbaal the Undefeated/Khorne (I can only imagine how awesome the model would be), and Dechala/Slanesh (possible due to the "witch" rumor).

Is it possible that the "new marauders" coud be a combi-kit with the "youngbloods" giving us the option to make either a standard marauder or a ranged/skirmishing, shooty marauder unit? If GW was going to remodel an already existing plastic unit, it would make sense for it to be a diverse box, right?

Finally, please let the rumors of a delay be false.

Got to Admit I will be Surprised if Crom is in the book, for all intents and purposes he died in Slavania.
Well Him and His entire army disappeared without a Trace before Mannfred turned up in the north to kill the last of the Chaos invaders and to demand the empires surrender which he decided to leave till later through poor story telling because Volkmar was mean....

Got to admit I am looking forwards to the characters at this point though and I won't have to pay for the limited edition Archaeon on foot either.

OMG New plastic marauders would be so amazing!!! I,ve always wanted to make an all marauder themed army ever since I read the BL novels Palace of the Plague Lord and Blood for the Blood God, both by CL Werner. The only thing holding me back was buying the old roid S&M themed marauders but now my dream may come true!!

It all sounds good but that's far too much for a single release, and I'm still waiting for a Tomb King second wave!

Also past experience leaves me incredulous of new marauder miniatures coming out any time soon when so much of the range is still in metal. I know it's a rumour that Harry himself has provided (via birdy) but I really doubt its accuracy.

Would the suprise big kit be a massive chaos spawn usuable by a few armies in both systems?

It's nice to see Egrimm in the list, though I'd love an updated Arbaal the Undefeated and Aekold Hellbrass as well.

If they came out with new Marauders, I might consider doing an army. But until that time, no (current marauders are IMHO worse than High Elf spearmen...!)

But the Limited Ed model is so fantastic already! Nothing wrong with having both of the new one is as good.

Thanks for the roundup, Harry! I should get my chaos army finished with assembly and painting before these are released.

My main hope is that WoC get a tiny bit more tactical variety than just charge into combat and hope for the best.
