Malorian at Warhammer'd 2012

There is a tournament in Calgary called Warhammer'd which has been going on for a while however I haven't been able to attend until this year, an event I've been looking forward to the ENTIRE year!

2 days with 5 games, most of it being played with 2996 point armies but there are two missions with a 'defender' where a 2000 point list is used.

Every table is themed with it's own mission, plus there are 2 mini-games, but best of all there is a bar and your tournament ticket comes with 4 free drink tickets!

As this is a mainly fun event (also we'll see what adding chaos dwarfs, SoM monster, and other FW monsters to the mix will do) I'm going with a list that is strong enough to kick in some teeth but has a lot of softer and random units as well:

So yes I have the savage orc biguns, the black orc horde, and a killer warboss, however I also have only a wizard hat in terms of magic, no dispel scroll, and Super Orc. It should be a lot of fun

Most important will be my first game where me and my internet rival will be taking a shot every turn!

Well the tournament is over and it was a blast!

I am having sound issues with my computer though so it probably won't be until the weekend until I can get the reports fixed and up.

This is going to make for a VERY busy weekend since I'm going to ANOTHER 5 game tournament this weekend with my orcs again!

great reports and some whacky missions there. They must have a lot of cool terrain to run these missions with loads of siege towers and mushrooms and all Sounds like a blast no matter what the end results, and definetly get a rematch against your last opponent.

I think in most cases a troll and maybe a chariot or two is all the chaff you need. I have FIVE more battle reports from the tournament I did this weekend that shows off my warmachines.


That link didn't do much for the ego... It's true that my game style was more interesting in 7th, but I was surprised to see that much bad feedback

I sensed a trend in your games - if Super Orc ran wild (like Hulk-a-mania) then you seemed to do very well. When Super Orc was contained (brrrrother!) you did exponentially worse. An interesting observation - I will now attempt to understand it ....

I don't know about that. You're way too hard on yourself.

There were a few that were just plain negative but hater's gonna hate. Some disagree'd with your hordes and bigbus playstyle. Maybe that doesn't work so well for them in their meta or
they find it gets boring quickly or perhaps some of thier opponents find it dull to play all the time. Even here on Warseer many players disagree with the idea of go big or go home.
I like hordes and big blocks myself, they can be very very effective and they can also backfire sometimes. I also find it's more fun to play against armies that have more varying sizes
instead of all huge buses and big hordes and all the typical super effecient units we know are great the majority of the time. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

Warpath? Sounds like something for Aspect Warriors...true Orcs wouldn't make do with a simple subtle path.

What a great tournament! It won't come as a big surprise that my personal preference lies with cold beer over Scotch but to each his own. :-)

One thing that surprised me though was that some units got out of a still running combat (the Arachnarok but there was some other). I was under the impression that they are moved up to remaining models even from different units.

So was I but if that's the same Shadowlord as on Warhammer-Empire, he's like that all the time. I truly like your BatReps, your lists and the way you explain things. What kind of elaborated ploys do those snobs expect, Pompey against Mithridates...?
