    Beastmen Wish-listing

As a 7th-ed-but-made-with-8th-in-mind book, sadly we are probably 3+ years off from a new book, but I'd like to speculate/wishlist anyways, and try and extrapolate from current trends

    Army-wide rules:
    Primal Fury: stays as is
Ambush: Maybe make standard 8th-ed ambushing. Maybe an option to ambush from a woods?

    New units:
Chariot support unit: The beastmen equivalent of Cauldron of Blood / Mortis Engine / Corpse Cart / Engine of the Gods / Luminark / Hurricanum / War Altar / Warshrine / Casket of Souls. Only OnG & OK haven't got one of these units
    - I could see shard of the herdstone becoming one of these
    - Maybe a passive effect every time it is targeted by lore of wild spell (assuming there are ~3 augments in the lore; or maybe whenever a wild/beasts spell in cast within X") -- auto PF/Pfrenzy on any doubles?
    - Variant build 1: Gibbet Tree of Woe (big gnarly tree uprooted and pulled around) some passive hex to enemies, a la Cygor, Jabbersclythe, Corpse Cart Balefire, LD bomb... Mountable by Shamans
    - Variant build 2: buff unit, can be ridden by wargor/beastlord. Primal frenzy on any double for those in 6-12". Maybe a bound re-roll to wound or +1 to wound? (like a walking enemy-only bane stone!)

    New models:
    - Chariot dual kits, with 2x Tuskgor and 1x Razorgor. Possibly with plastic character options.
    - a variant on this is that there 2 chariot support units, and 2 kits: each kit either makes generic chariot or it's support version (only 1 steed type in each)
    - Plastic Centigors with all weapons options. Centigors modified to be viable options. Maybe monst cav with 2W?
    - Harpies

    Items:
    - 1. BANNER Beast Banner: iconic. although the 'must-take' banners have been dropped from some armies (Drakenhoff Banner for VC, for example)
    - 2. ARCANE/ENCHANTED Chalice of Dark Rain: essential.
    - 3. ARCANE Herdstone: iconic, but see above. Maybe become a support chariot unit
    - 4. ARMOUR Blackened plate: so good!
    - 5. ARCANE/ENCHANTED/TALISMAN Hagree Fetish: iconic and cool!
    - 6. ARCANE/ENCHANTED Staff of Darkoth: every book seems to have a bound spell; esp. MM's for no-shooting armies (see Rod of Flaming Death for VC, for example), often in a enchanted slot no less!
    - 7. WEAPON: Do any of them get used??
    - 8. BANNER: Manbane standard?
    - 9. Arcane-item-destroying thing (Take that, hellheart!)

    Mutations:
    - Maybe make non-unique a la vampiric powers?
    - Ones that actually get used are Uncanny Senses, Gouge-Tusks, Gnarled Hide, Many-limbed fiend
    - Mark of the True Best is fluffy and will probably stay

    Please add to this!

    EDIT

    Characters:
Wargor/Beastlord - unit cold-blooded versus Forces of Order?

    Mutations:
    - Maybe mark-related
    - Mutations for units, or stuff that passes on to units?

    Core:

Ungors - good as is. Maybe spears for free (a la VC skeletons)?
    Gors - 7 pts w HW/S. +1 pt for AHW.
Maybe some sort of fanatic / trapper / sneaky stalker upgrade for units, to represent the most mutated of them leaping out of the unit??
Chariots - In units; maybe razorgor as champion upgrade?

    Special:

Minotaur - pts drop. Heavy armour option? Maybe a look-out ungor?
Centigor - Again, need to find a niche. Heavy Armour? Parry?
Harpies - maybe poison or KB options a la
    Razorgor Chariots - units
    Razorgor - good as is
    Bestigor - good as is.

    Rare:

    - Pts drop across the board for big gribblies.
    - Make spawn viable. Movement 2d6+3?

    Magic:

Doubt they will drop lore of the wild; but as is it's just a paltry version of Lore of Beasts

    Lore Attribute:
    - Fervor of the Wild: every successful casting gives caster +1A, or +1A to another model in 12" ( Something to give added incentive for smashy in-combat GBs!). Stackable.

    Magic Missiles:
    - Viletide as is works

    Augments:

    Hexes:

    Direct Damage:

    Magical Vortexes:
    - Maybe an augment one?? All touched by it get +1 to wound/re-roll wounds?

    My wishlist?

    1. Bring back Beasts of Chaos (updated to 8th of course.)

That's about it. I'm pretty modest, no?

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

Points drop for Minos. Re-thinking of the monsters. Updating of the lore and ambush. Asides from that, I actually think most of the book is about right, a good chunk of it shows up a fair amount of the time. Centigors don't seem to be popular but they're one of my favourite units to use, Minotaurs also work well in the right list. Some people bemoan the cost of Gors, but they're pretty much in line with other 8th infantry, DE Spearmen and their ilk are sure to go up in cost. I think the book could perhaps use a dash of creativeness, much of it seems to be 'big hairy thing', 'little hairy thing', 'hairy thing with four legs' etc.

My wishlist? Drop the points of the three big rares by a bit. Other than that nothing really.

Beastmen can easily be a very powerful army and I have been very succesful with them, and it seems many other people have too. And modelswise they have some of the best infantry models around and the only models I can think of that need updating are the shamans (Rumoured to be coming anyway) and the chariot (easy conversion from orc bits).

Hi I'm new on this site

Marks of chaos! Different and more primal than WOC.
New fluff, no more smearing statues and banners with dung and blood.
Rares redone from the ground up.
New howdah monster like the one on page 5 of the current book.
New lore of the wild, vile tide the signature spell

Yay! My first real post on Warseer.

Return of the Chaos Gods to the fluff!!

New razorgor model, but not in 3+ years, NOW! And plastic chariots, harpies and centigors.

Models for all characters. Slugtongue and Taurox would be very nice models...

As for the rules, I think the current book is quite fine, just re-thinking the big beasties (rules and point cost) and making the lore useful would be prefect for me.

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

I don't see us losing any of the existing rares. Here are some ideas to make them viable:

Cygor - 5+ ward versus mundane attacks
Ghorgon - Maybe 5+ AS? (he does have a lot of metal on him). Make s
Jabber - 4+ Scaly Skin. Improved Aura of Madness (Maybe a la Terrorgheist?), or a generic -1LD to enemies in 6".
Howdah Monster -- Razorgon? - Great Spiny Chaos Beast? or some up-sized razorgor? Tempted to start converting one now from a Stonehorn > That pic is awesome. Maybe this could be rare/character mount option that has some 'support-unit-type' functions a la Thundertusk. "Quiver before the Beast" --> all enemies in 6" lose bonuses of shields of weapons as their hands tremble in terror, or a WS-bomb? Carrying a big totem/herdstone shard/brach of the gibbet tree of woe thingie

Mutations for units, or those that buff/pass on to the units, would be kind of awesome, something in the vein of chaos marks.

I don't think a magic missile would be a fluffy Lore of the Wild sig spell. I'm thinking an augment of some kind...

    It's funny

Of the 8th edition army book none of the weapon options sees any real use. Skabscrath and Runefang are occasional at best...
"Parrying lasers with my sword since 7th edition"

    - Luminarks, Hurricanums, Robot-horses and skaven laser cannons have made me a better person. A man can only hate so much and these awful units just seem able to soak it all

    Wishlist?

    Rules; Units of 1-5 spawn.
Useful cheap gifts for bestigor champs and heroes.
Cheaper Minos and LoS with only 3 rank an file in the unit.
Cheaper or preferably better rare big guys.
A decent damage lore to clear away cheap diverters of knock a rank off big units.
    Gifts(mutations) on all unit champions.

    Models;
    Plastic razorgors
    Special character models
    Mutated character models
    Beastmen that aren't all goatmen.

    Give centigors forest strider back!

Maybe make the rares a bit cheaper (maybe 5+ regen on the jabber)

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

Make gnarled hide an upgrade for all monsters. Razorgors would be mental even with a 5+ armour save. Ghorgon less so, but it would give them some protection against a gajillion st3 arrows which are being thrown at him every turn

Units of spawn would actually be pretty amazing IMHO, if their movement got a bit more reliable.
Viletide for chaff clearing; maybe a 6th spell vortex that does d6 per rank a la vamp lore wind of death?

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

Really, the book in and of itself isn't that bad - even though I have stopped playing them after about 5 years straight.

    - Lower the points of the big Rares, not even that much either. Please don't compare the Hydra, etc as they should be brought up.
    - Make Mino's core with Doombull General (droool). Don't even worry toooo much about their point cost. Maybe a touch more armour.
    - Make Ambush a smidge more usable. You have a year to write the book and the best you can do is "On a roll of 2-3 try again next turn." Really?
    - Make the #$@%&*$# Warhounds count towards core. Gawd, that's a pet peeve.
    - Centigors fast Cav.

I don't really need things that help me WIN games, I just don't want things that would help me LOSE games.

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

    1) Make Ambush more reliable so it is actually a decent tactic
    2) Either give mino's a decent save or reduce the points cost
    3) Rare section monsters either need a reduction in points or need a few mor abbilites to keep them alive

This would be a good start

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

    rescuplt minotaurs,
Bring back beast heard units (mixed gors and ungors)
bring back the beast herd unit being semi skirmishers
    Bring back beasts of chaos
less large monsters and more beastmen and monsterous infantery.
basically thrash the 7th ed crap book and give us the 6th ed book back.

go back to the germanic tribes that fought the roman empire idea. ambushing herds and chariots then beastigors holding the centre.

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

While I haven't played a game with with beastmen(still building it) some things I would like.

-Some more ranged units would be nice, maybe ungor archers on chariots ?
-Ghorgon should have some protection against ranged attacks. Look at him he is huge, arrows shouldn't kill him that easy.
-Lower the price of Jabberslythe, both the model and the unit.
-Give us the model for the brass bull, I want to see what that beast looks like.
-Other then that, replace the various metal models(Beastlords, Bray-shamans, chariots and so on with plastic or resin models and provide the various weapon options that for example Beastlord has. Also give us a BSB model.

    Re: Beastmen Wish-listing

Ok, giving the assumption that the designers will keep it beastmen, keep the huge ranks, keep the focus as just beastmenetc then they need to still go some way towards making the list have a bit more variety. Without the books linking together ( I can completely understand why they don't want to do that anymore) the lists feel a little bland and monotone, especially as they are all just variations on melee armies.

Yes, but the user Malagor made a clear distinction between "unit" and "model", and hence my confusion.
