Thread: Paper Anyone?

    Paper Anyone?

BFG in Paper? Yes. But let me explain.

I am a retired Ex-pat who has become a legal, permanent resident of the Repulic de Panama. I have been living in this freedom-loving and economically-stable country for the last three+ years. I return to The States for 30 days once each year to visit friends and offspring, and to get my "fix" of wargaming with real miniatures. After returning from my last visit, I realized that the BFG bug had infected my Big Time, and I wanted to continue to play until my next visit. The logistics of either shipping my fleets down here or ordering and building new fleets is logistically troublesome and cost-prohibitive, so the paper-medium was my next best choice. So if ya care to see what paper fleets can look like, I have posted links to my Chaos, Imperial, Eldar, and Necron fleets. All paper models have been mounted on foam board, and have a 'base' stand and a base "stem" for measurement precision.

    Curious? Have a look.

Those are bleeding sweet!!! Honestly, if I would ever get a game going with some friends, this would be my medium of choice! Instant miniatures!! KABLAM!! And with a bit of Photoshop work, you can even convert them! Hahaha... Keep up the good work, and let us know how it plays, compared to "normal" BFG.

Yeah, they are kinda KOOL, aren't they. However, to be honest, I prefer to play with the lead/resin ships over paper, but its just not possible given my geographical location.

Playing BFG with these paper models is fine. With the bases and stems 'installed' on each model, the measurement accuracy is maintained for movement, shooting, ordnance and whatnots. I have completed about a dozen games with these paper models and don't notce any difference in game play over using the 3D lead/resin ships. In fact, I just completed a 1350 point game yesterday between the Imperial Navy and the Necrons. This was my first go with the Necrons and I was surprised at the outcome! I am completing a battle report on this game, complete with blow-by-blow descriptions and photos. I'll post this report as a PDF for download when I complete it.

My only regret in using these fine paper models is that I cannot give the original artist credit for his contribution, 'cause I don't know who did the original artwork. I did photoshop the Eldar to change the color scheme (actually, my eldest son did this), and I made minor mods to some other ships for 'viewability', but other than that, these models reflect the original artists talent and work.

    Glad ya liked them!
