    Catachan Barking Toad

A little sculpt of my interpretation of a Catachan Barking Toad. I made it for an event I will be running where players exploring unknown markers may find a barking toad under them instead of what they are hunting for.

Nice sculpt mate, very cute! What are the rules for a barking toad?

That's pretty cool, the little horn things are a good touch and well done!

Is it going to explode on contact like they used to?

They had rules for the Lesser Catachan Barking Toad in White Dwarf, back when the Witch-Hunters codex was released. If I remember correctly, the toads would explode and poison an area of about 6" radius if a shot was fired near them, or at least there was a chance that might happen.
Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".

The rules I plan to use are when a player's unit wants to explore a marker they do so in the Assault phase by assaulting the marker. Then a D6 is rolled, on a 6 they find what they are hunting for and will have to battle that, on a 1 or 2 they will find a Barking Toad. The toad will immediately take a leadership test on LD 4. If it fails it will then explode in a S 8 AP 1 large blast. If it passes the assaulting unit may take fall back from the assault instead of striking. The Barking Toad will then continue to move randomly around the board. Any wound the Toad takes form that point on will cause it to explode, and any shooting within 2" will force another Leadership check.

Very nice, could we get a scale shot photo next to a hapless guardsman?

I finally was able to get some caste and painted for an event I was running at my local game store.

While I do not have a hapless guardsman, I did have a hapless space marine to show size.
