It is possible to get the iTunes downloads to work on an Android. It takes a bit of effort but it can be done. At it's core, the iTunes format uses an open source ebook format. They just wrap an apple drm around it. I purchased one of the smaller books they have and got it running on my Asus transformer.

Pretty sure thats not legal though. And if we're already over that line why pay at all for it (rhetorical question I'm not endorsing anything illegal here)? No if Gw wants me as a customer then they can make it available easily for me or they can forget it.
As TheDungen said. The only way I'd envision paying for a digital thing is if it can be read on a computer. Oh, hold on: not just on a computer, but on a PC, (I can see the "Mac only" coming from a mile away).

Would be neat. With the current method, they can update it and it's pushed to everyone's devices and coming from GWs view, being iPad only means it's much harder to steal.
Out of curiosity, are any of these digital downloads available on a PC running iTunes?

While that is true it is as i stated earlier a violation of the agreement you sign when either downloading the ebook or installing itunes and thus illegal.

Why are everyone assuming these would be this kind of digital? They've put up free pdf's before, the rumour doesn't say which flavour of digital it is.

because its the opposite direction that gw is going right now, ten years ago they were a strongly community driven company that had loads of info on their site. now? Its an online store and only an online store.
Hopefully GW will release their digital format in Norway. The rest of Northern Europe have it so why not us?

I realize some may disagree with me getting it working on my android, however I still legally purchased it, and I have no plans on distributing it. All they should care is they got their money and not about what medium I choose to view it in.
I think it's rather silly to they are limiting it to iTunes and only to the iPad 2 or better. It severely limits their potential pool of customers. I do hope they widen the access. I'd rather not have to go through the hassle of switching file formats.

It does work on the original iPad as well. I think the reason for the limiting is the production software. It looks like they used the one from Apple and of course the result only works on iPads...

We totally agree with you Atrum Angelus, but I'm pretty sure we're no allowed to advocate any illegal behaviour on these forums. And it is illegal cause you sign the agreement when install itunes. So its contract breach i believe. I however don't you'll ever see legal problems if you do it, its a non issue compared to file sharing and that kind of stuff. Not that i encourage you.
