    Project Necroissant

My gaming group has embrased 6th edition without restrictions. Not my favorite, but what can you do...

Instead of getting trashed every game I've decided to test a new army with a little more bite.

    My list so far:

    Imotekh
    Cryptek, Eternity, Chronometron
    5 Immortals, tesla, night scythe
    5 Immortals, tesla, night scythe
    5 Immortals, tesla, night scythe
    5 Immortals, tesla, night scythe
    3 Canoptek Wraiths
    3 Canoptek Wraiths
    Doom scythe
    Doom scythe
    Doom scythe
Aegis Defence Lines, Comms Relay (reroll reserves)
    Total [1850]

Since I don't own a single Necron model I've had to scratch build the army until I can afford "the real thing":

    Necroissants (aka Night/Doom Scythes):

    Really?

While this is clever, surely this isn't the place to post this.

On the contrary, it surely is

Love how you've gone about this, probably a good solution for a lot of people out there who want to just try a list out without investing heavily in it. And speaking of lists, that is one dirty dirty list, though I imagine from reading your post that that's how your gaming group plays, so good luck with the gaming.

Thanks for making me smile this monday morning.

    Cheers,

Yes it's a nasty piece of work this list. Totally creamed a tooled up GK list with it.

Every GK save two were gone by the end of turn 5 for the loss of 3 Hull Points and 2 Wraiths.

I personally like more balanced lists, but since my friends seems to like "the full Mony", then that's what they're going to get.

I'm currently looking into wich units I'd like to buy/assemble/paint, but there's a few problems.

First of all the Necron Death Ray (main weapon on the Doom Scythes) is so poorly described, that It's nigh on impossible to incorporate in 6th edition.

Secondly the lists efficiency might swing heavily as more Skyfire weapons become available (Flak missiles springs to mind).

I like them, the green edge highlights look nice, and the red eyes/lenses make up for a fine "EVIL" contrast.
    Some close-ups, please .

Not sure what to think, the word cheap comes to mind a lot. No offense, if you want a cheap hobby don't come into 40k ,just the paints are insanely expensive. Cardboard minis, no, that's just not what warhammer is about, just legal between friends, but honestly I would neve rplay vs such a player. The thing I love about GW is how detailed their models are, frankly speaking it's possible to make these flyers better looking by adding more details, but they do the job, why? Because you actually got painting skills, but i'd like to see them on real models ^^.

I have to disagree. Most of this is pretty elitist. GW charge obscene prices for their product, and at the end of the day you are playing against a rules set, not specific miniatures. Warhammer 40K 2nd Ed included cardboard minis in the starter set. The OP has done an amazing job.

Well he has uppgraded everything except the flyers to real models (which are well painted from the looks of the pictures).

Besides, I would much rather play against a well executed "painted" proxy army of cardbord-printouts and styrofoam flyers than an unpainted army of grey plastic gw-models.

Love the proxy fliers, can tell you've put some work into them, much better than coke cans or butter tubs!

I think some of the young 'uns have been spoonfed a bit too much by GW; resourcefulness has always been a massively important skill for any scale modeller.

Yes, yes. Remember the old shampoo bottle hover tank.

I'll see what I can do about a close up this weekend.

The cardboard army made me laugh, the real thing looks much better though. Close ups!

The night scythes out of foam are very very clever and I applaud you.

In fairness, Id never play against you with that stinking attitude.

Its very creative, and considering the sythes are polystyrine, they look brilliant and well painted. Very creative while you slowly build up your force.

I take no offence to the comment. It's a personal choice.

But thanks to all who liked my budget flyers for what they are.
