    Re: Codex CSM

The wait goes on but I'm ok with that if these models really hit the shelves. And this delay gives me chance to throw lots of money at FW. and if the rumour of plastic Plaguebearers this month is true, I can get to work on my daemonic allies too. Plenty of Chaos to keep me going. For now...

hastings ik you may not reply to this and ik you wouldnt say anything about rules but would you say that the "mauler" obliterators can compete with the top tier ccu from other armies i really need a unit that can grind the competition

also will there be a new "chaos lord" kit?

I would "imagine" that these maulers are designed to compete in just that kind of role.

AFAIK the current plastic termie lord kit remains.

The lord giveth, the lord taketh away. Le sigh. Was looking forward to Chaos-ing it up now that my Death Guard are painted and ready to roll (and have new things bought for them)

Perhaps the nurgle kit that was spotted is a palaquin? Double combo with the chariot kit perhaps? I don't know if that fits a lawnmower of death design that was quoted elsewhere but you'd think they'd want to get those character carrying objects out of the way.

Weird that there's a new Kharn but no mention of Abaddon. Kharn is still a pretty cool model, albeit he's a touch teeny.

In the earliest Chaos rumours there was a rumour of "brazen knights" that were khorne berzerkers riding juggernauts. They haven't been mentioned for a long time and now seems that rumour may have been wrong (which is a good thing in my opinion).

I've heard talk/mention of "mauler-fiends" .. is this them I wonder ? Name is very similar.

@ Harry: meant it in the nicest possible connotation

This is shaping up to be a hell of a release; I'm thinking everybody was like ho hum, we'll get some uprates rules and a few new gets tossed at us, and instead this sounds like an almost dark eldar proportions re boot

Note also that ill not be adding rules or updating this thread in anyway so that will be up to you guys.

I'm expecting the codex to hit late October or early November (depending on if the rumour that the wfb WoC army book isn't out till feb 2013 is true or not - I'm still expecting that book in October)

    Upcoming models:-

    Raptors (plastic 2 types)
Dread looks like an angry obliterater on roids!
Obliterators look good but not as good as the "mauler" CC version
    Dragon flyer is ok
Two deamonic Centauroid cannon things a bit iffy
    Warp smith
    Apostles
    Cultists
    Some odd walker thing
New csm marines (could be recut with added bits? Either way I didn't recognise them as current ones - but then again my 40k fu is weak!)
    Chosen very nice too
Looks great so far. I'm quite curious about these models and which might be dualkits etc. Here's my thought:

    - Raptors (plastic 2 types) : Dualkit - most likely to cover the 2 types
    - Dread /Odd walker thing: Dualkit - I guess this walker is the mentioned "daemon-engine-alike-thing" and it's description does share some resemblance to the new Dread.
    - Obliterator/Mauler?: Dualkit
    - New CSM marines /Chosen?: Too many uncertainties. I guess we will still have Havocs? Since Havocs, CSM marines and Chosen are regular marines (by looks) chances are fair they might share the same kit. Maybe a large kit containing 5 models with lots of options?

    - Flyer: 1 kit, since there's no other rumour around them having another flyer aside this one.
    - Cultists: 1 kit, just your average Necron Warriors/ Ork Boyz etc. Lots of models, with little upgrades in one box.

    - Warp Smith: Failcast in clampack
    - Apostles: Failcast in clampack

    - Two daemonic Centauroid cannons? : Don't even know how it's suppose to look like, so I'm not going even to bother speculate about it regarding looks/box. Though I do have a feeling it might be related to "Skyfire".

So looking at the above I think at least 6 new kits for CSM. Any thoughts about this guys?

Just a guess here (not a rumour) but is it possible that the chosen\new csm could be a pack like the SW\BA box which has all the bits to make chosen but also the parts to add god-spacific parts and weapons to csm squads to make legion csm squads (looks only, not rules) and havocs.

    Re: Codex CSM

As others have said, I find it awfully strange they wouldn't rush to get a new codex out to show off the new edition.

If these rumors are true I'm going to have to dedicate a small force to every (Chaos) Legion... Which I've said many times before.

Hastings note that he's including Starter set models in the list. So Cultists, Chosen and the Dread are included.

I'm wondering if the Apostle / Warpsmith might be an opportunity to do single model plastic kits, like fantasy does.

Thanks for this clarification. I always forget about what the Hellcannon is supposed to look like because the WoC player around here uses heavily modified Tyranid Pyrovores for his Hellcannons and that is just what they are supposed to look like IMHO.

I didn't think about a Cannon with a full body, 4 legs and Arms though. The idea (6 limbs) seems to be quite Tyranid anyway. I am honestly excited about this though as it seems biomechanical (the way I like my CSM) and BIG GUNS (The way I like to play 40k.)

    BRING IT ON.

    And thanks for the rumors.

    Re: Codex CSM

The CSM that hastings is reporting could also perhaps be new havocs which is a unit that also need a plastic treatment badly.
As for the 2 new centaur like deamon engines my guess is that these are also a dual kit that will allow you to build 1 into a "anti-something" with the other allowing you an "anti-something else" weapon.

Dreanought I'm not certain if I am gonna liek it or not, I prefer my dreds to look like machines, the more organic or alive look i prefer for my deamon engines to set them apart from the normal machines, will need to see how the dred will turn out, should I not like it I can allways go for FW.

The flyer still on the fence and i doubt I can make a final deceision for it until I see the model before me.

I don't know why but I was really expecting them to make new Noise Marines. Most this stuff sounds really cool but I think they missed an opportunity to please the fans of the different cult legions
