Might as well add this on here..
"Titles For Every Episode In The Next Series Of Red Dwarf X"
After the BBFC had certificated most of the episodes of Red Dwarf X, revealing their titles, producer Richard Naylor took to Twitter to fill in the blanks.* As a result, I can now bring you a list of all six episode titles from the series.
Trojan
Fathers and Suns
Lemons
Entanglement
Dear Dave
The Beginning
You may recall that the very first episode of the first series was called The End. Does the symmetry created by calling episode six The Beginning suggest that Red Dwarf X is designed to bring the series to a close overall? Will this episode take us back to The End in some other way? Or is this just a cute naming conceit?
Those who were in the studio audience for the recording will have some idea, but they’ve been pretty good at keeping spoilers quiet.
And we’re not saying what we know either.
So, it’s up to you to speculate away and talk amongst yourselves.
More on Red Dwarf X soon – including, we expect, a new trailer this Friday.
*He didn’t mention Lemons and neither did the BBFC yet, but it’s a rumoured title and Naylor is implicitly endorsing it with his comments that only one title remained unknown.
Just found a sneak peek on YouTube:

Made me chuckle anyway, feeling pretty positive about this at the moment.
That scene seems without context, so not much to chuckle at really. Rimmer looks even older in motion![]()

I have a plog now! Now with actual painted models
I think you get enough context from the scene. I'm not really too sure how much more context you need given the relative simplicity of the joke and the short length of the clip. Of course it does raise a few questionsbut I think there are probably other scenes from earlier series which could be over analysed and picked apart in a similar fashion too. There was only about 20 seconds of trailer anyway and it clearly ends just as Rimmer's about to say something else.
It was a pretty funny visual gag which lacked the Carry-On style slapstick that plagued Series 8. Like I said, it made me laugh anyway and Chris Barrie having aged doesn't bother me in the slightest either. If it's any indication of how the rest of the Series is going to go, I reckon it's looking pretty good at the moment.
I'll watch it, I hope it's good and can actually break new ground for the series... Red Dwarf is something I loved as a kid but it's aged so badly
not sure they can satisfy die-hard fans AND seem more edgy at the same time

That scene did make me chuckle... I'm hoping for the best!

Has it? I'll admit to being something of a Red Dwarf fan so my view on this is definitely biased but when I watch it these days it doesn't seem to have aged badly. Ignoring Series 7, 8 and the CGI-d remastered episodes that is.
Comparing it to other programs around at the same sort of time, I don't think it's showing its age particularly. The use of models in the first six series don't show their age half as much as, for example the CGI from Space: Above and Beyond. I'll admit some of Cat's outfits, especially early on, look very late 80s/early 90s (So, basically, terrible). But trying to watch an episode of Star Trek TNG I'm more struck by the age of the show than I am watching an episode from Series 4 or 5.
Or am I just being blinded by my fan loyalty here? (Genuine question)
I agree that it has aged quite well, practical effects and models always do IMO, Aliens has aged better than Alien 3 for example, purely due to the superiority of the physical Aliens vs the rubbish early cgi ones.
Early TNG episodes are quite terribly dated now.
For those who are interested, a new trailer, code astronavs

I'm begining to feel optomistic - the trailers have been good!

Has it aged? Bits of it have, but I've been re watching with my other half and we have been laughing like drains. I hadn't seen most of it in years and it still has way more hits than misses.
Looking forward with some optimism to series 10.
