Exclamation Stay out of the woods!

I got caught by something I had never seen before and thought I would share it.

Typically people stay out of the woods; It's just not worth risking what mysterious ability it might have plus if caught in it you don't get steadfast, but for those of us that run horde armies that go from board edge to board edge this isn't an option some times.

Well in this case I placed my 50 shield orcs in the woods and on the first turn my wood elve opponent had a noble and a mage run together into some trees on his side, the noble had the item that let you jump from one forest to another, and the wizard had the item where enemy models in the same forest take a str 5 hit. The end result was my horde of 50 being reduced to 18 before I even had my first turn.

Now I'll admit this was situational but man did it hit me hard and just thought I'd spread the word.

What other very situational but very effective moves have you experienced?

I lost 4 out of 8 Inner Circle Knights in a game last weekend charging through a wood. There's four reasons why people tend to stay outside.
The Germans are exceedingly fond of Rhine wines; they are put up in tall, slender bottles, and are considered a pleasant beverage. One tells them from vinegar by the label.

I took down a horde of marauders with a wyvern lord a few games back. Lack of steadfast makes monsters really strong.

I love that mix of items. I've taken it a few times in the past but only ever got the chance to use it once. People don't tend to go near the trees when playing Wood Elves, as you found out, for good reason.
