Here are two examples of a zooming flyer switching to hover mode to attempt to ignore penalties on its following turn. What do you folks feel about the legality of either or both of these?
1. A zooming flyer is taking fire and decides to use evasive maneuvers to gain a cover save. An evading flyer can only make snap shots in the following turn. The flyer switches to hover mode at the beginning of the next movement phase and is therefore treated as a skimmer instead. Does this change in movement type allow the skimmer to fire at its full BS instead of making snap shots?
2. A zooming flyer takes a penetrating hit and is Stunned. Stunned flyers may only move in a straight line forward for the same distance as in its previous movement phase. The flyer attempts to switch to hover mode to avoid making such a move because it would put it at a disadvantage. Does the change in movement type remove the stunned effect, or does it cause it to behave like a stunned skimmer instead?
I guess a third question is:
3. Can a stunned, evading, or similarly affected flyer even change to hover mode at all, or must it continue to Zoom until the effect has expired?
