Thumbs up advicr on an waac army.

    Hi guys.

I've been out the surname loop for roughly 8 years. A group of mates have just started playing 40I but have now decided to restart playing fantasy.

However we are all waac players (sucks I know but were all uber competitive)

we all pickled straws to decide on what any to play. My mate won and has gone for ogre Kingdoms so I'm expecting allot of cheese.

I've got second pic of the armies and I can't decided between the stronger armies.

Skaven is a possibility but the idea of painting and moving all the troops puts me off.

I am a huge fan off magic so rules out dwarfs

So that leaves me with vc DE or daemons (unless there are alternatives)

Our first game it's in a fee weeks and will only be 1000pts. But we will eventually go to 2k (it's that still the average game size?)

Money is no real issue so what is my best option for a waac army to go against ogre's (cheese is allowed)

Warriors of Chaos can also be very strong, and are low on the model count. They should do well. Take a couple of individual characters to cause havoc and out-charge his mournfang, and marauder hordes with flails do very well against ogres since you're striking first.

I'd say skaven, dark elves, or orcs.

You can't 13th ogres but you can blast huge holes in them with you warp lightning cannons and other shooting, and then in combat units like plague monks with the reroll banner will rip them a new one.

Dark elves get a ton of attacks and can force out mindrazor to simply take ogres off by the handful.

Even though you didn't mention it I really think you should look at orcs. when I play against ogres I see it basically as an autowin. My foot of gork absolutely wrecks the deathstars and then my combat troops are more than enough to mop up anything that gets to combat.

If you go the orc route then feel free to keep in touch and I can give some tips.

If you guys are all WAAC then who could blame you for taking Ogre Kingdoms anyway? Even if everyone at the store had mournfang spam lists, it'd still be fluffy and competitive and balanced. This way you all have an even footing.

Daemons are gonna drop out after the update, so I would play DE incredibly strong, with powerful magic.

Where on earth did you get that idea? One of their units got better, one got worse, neither of which were imporatnt units. They also go new units which are all good choices. If you were of the mind that Flamers alone made Daemons top tier then you shouldn't be commenting in a thread about WAAC armies, no offense.

If you are going to make your decision based on which armybook has the most cheese, isn't it safer to choose one of the armies that has an 8th edition book already? At least you know these will not change anytime soon. So if your options are VC, DE or Daemons maybe you should choose VC, because with the other two you don't know how they will turn out when their 8th edition book appears.

Re: advicr on an waac army.

Daemons vote here - still one of the strongest armies hands down - and for someone who plays WAAC this is a stunning army!

Mostly all plastic now - and SUPER cheap to collect! Core units - a single battle box gets you 40 core models which is basically enough (if you build command on all 3 daemon types) to give you legal 2000 point army (as you just need 500pts for legal requirements and you exceed this with the box!)

    2 battle boxes...

    40 Bloodletters, command
    20 Horrors
    20 Daemonettes

About as good as it gets!!! Throw in other models as you see fit and you're off to the races! like Waaac Well thankfully ALL special characters pretty much give you that!

Ogres? Let's see what happens when you reduce their leadership or movement by D3 via Masque! Nasty monsters or characterS? Say hello to Skulltaker!
Magic? What up Karios or the blue scribes!

    DO IT!!!

Id say HE are a pretty good contender for cheese. ASF blocks of lions and a book of hoeth (or hell just teclis) will do pretty well

As a Daemon player myself and with my most played opponent being DE I'd actually recommend DE. It seems to me that they have a lot of viable builds and will over all give you more fun because of all the diversity

Vampire counts waac all the way vs 8th ed books but in saying that i am yet to take on the dreaded O.K...

I vote for DE. You might have a few more models then you want, but they have cheese after cheese after cheese throughout their book. If you put them together with all the toys and play them smart, then you will at the very least piss off everyone you play.

    Quiet you!

I would put my vote for Daemons, they are a very strong choice and I never like playing them.

This may come as a bit of a surprise but I'd say go Empire for WAAC. I've been playing in a league for a long time and I've played/owned the following armies. HE/Lizardmen/Empire/VC/Brets/OnG.

The new Empire book is very solid and has the diversity to allow you to tailor if your group is really WAAC. Access to the BRB magic lores can wreck some armies and a couple Steam Tanks on the table wrecks MSU or indefinitely holds up deathstars allowing you to clean up the rest of the table and win on VPs. Empire is one of the few armies that can be devastating in every phase if played well and has the versatility to tailor to your opponents list and keep them guessing and unable to tailor against all of your options.

You winning games doesn't make the book powerful, it isn't, plain and simple. Either your opponent's aren't great or you are really good, but Empire are not even close to a WAAC army.
