    Tau Rumours

New rumours from a trusted commentator at Faeit 212 who says he has been playtesting the Tau codex.

    Via Logan on Faeit 212

    Tau
flyer wave could Voidraiven, Tau Lamprey, maybe another.

The name Lamprey is by no means official. Its entirely possible that will not be its name. Also possible it wont be released till codex.

As for the "Lamprey" i am not sure yet. But the assault crisis suits have experimental rules where once per game they gain BOTH benefits of moving with their jump things(unnamed at the moment) which lets them move 12in. Then reroll assault distance if desired. If the first attempted charge is successful you gain Furious Charge.

    This is ALL experimental though.

new characters to the Assault Crisis Suits....and i have even heard the rumor NO MORE KROOT!

I cant tell if the NO KROOT! rumor is true but it makes sense. I am lets say VERY involved with the play testing process of the codex and I have seen no kroot units. Shhhhhhhh don't panic.
Talking to guy who is higher up than me in an email here is what he said

" Now Logan, I have received your emails regarding your next project. You asked why there has been a lack of a certain unit(Kroot) all I can tell is that right now it is being heatedly discussed whether to keep them in our upcoming release. We want this book to reflect the primary army, not necessarily other "mercenary" forces. When we sort it out we promise to let you have a peak.

Thank you for your concerns and comments regarding this matter."

No Kroot means a silly ally book will be released or a white dwarf ally army for them.

Seems like the sort of thing that is going to piss off a lot of Tau players.

If this trusted commentator is posting emails with his boss, I doubt he'll remain a source for much longer.

    I call shenanigans.

I hope "Logan" is not his real name or else he is going to be in deep doo doo.

Could be good. Put all the Mercs in 1 book. Allows them to flesh out the units while still leaving room in the Tau book for Tau.

Not as many as you might think.

If true I am stoked for this line "We want this book to reflect the primary army, not necessarily other "mercenary" forces.". Not going to lie, the thought of assault suits makes me cringe a bit. That said I am curious to see how effective they are.

See I can't stand this reasoning Tau use xenos auxillaries that is an aspect of their primary army and while the Kroot are still Allowed to operate as mercenaries for others, when fighting for the Tau they are not being 'hired' as mercenaries they are serving as auxillary troops for the Tau Empire in much the same way as Imperial Guard units are part of the tithe payed to the Imperium.
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.

You do realise that, in the extremely unlikely event these rumours are genuine, "reflect the primary army" probably means you'll be buying Fishfists and Fishmissiles for your Doomfish-pattern Fishsuits, right?

Seriously though, if these rumours are true, I'm having horrible nightmarish visions of GW abandoning the pretense and just making Super Awesome Gundam Robots Warhammer Edition.

Kroots to get squatted? Say it ain't so!

(Looking forward to the allies book)

    Re: Tau Rumours

I think this is likely to be untrue, and if he is disclosing playtesting stuff he has just broken his non-disclosure agreement.

Besides believe it or not Kroot used to be a big seller as they look cool, they were certainly one of the most successful forgeworld releases.

I think this suggests that maybe later in the future there will be a mercenary update with rules for all the minor alien races like kroot and squat but the Tau Empire book will be only focused on tau which is ok in my books a 40k Dogs of War sounds awesome

    Re: Tau Rumours

Exactly why they have a planned "mini" codex alongside Codex Tau. My sources however say they are not removed from the codex. Though admittedly my source has been inaccurate at best lately.

agreed, why would the "higher ups" go through the trouble of alleviating "Logans" fears.... this all smells like bunk to me, especially the assault crisis suits.

    Gimme Demiurg! heheh

    Re: Tau Rumours

Sometimes testing phases do not reflect the full deal, and testers are being focused on something specific, like a MMORPG having a PvP Open Beta. This test (if true) could be making sure that an all Tau army is viable.

But as for the finished product, I doubt Kroot will be dropped. They have been an integral part of the Tau army for the entirety of its existence. May as well drop Inquisitors from Grey Knights or Scouts/TechMarines from the Smurfs or Ogryn and Ratlings from IG. I almost want to say Daemons from Chaos Marines, but the Daemons do have their own book now.

"Assault Crisis Suits"? Getting rid of Kroot? Copying a private email verbatim, even leaving in his own name?

    Someone here is being trolled.

    Re: Tau Rumours

Sounds like bunk. Can't see them leaving kroots out even if they make a merc-dex of some sort for them. They are a part of the tau core. If anything I'd more expect to see the vespids vanish.

But thanks for bringing this to us anyway =)

    Re: Tau Rumours

Not even slightly believable to me. What he has said is pretty much: "Here's some random rumors, i know alot because i just happen to be play testing the new codex so here's some more and here's a random e-mail justifying what I've said. You guys have to believe me."

The amount of spelling errors in that e-mail also suggests he wrote it himself.
