I was wondering if much was known about this beyond that it exists and that's where the Index Astartes is kept? Has anything else ever been written about it?
No idea but bear in mind that the articles Index Astartes in white dwarf isnt the same as the in universe index astartes. If the imperium knew about the gene acceleration of the phoenix guard or the fallen there would be trouble for some chapters.
I seem to recall a piece of fluff sometime during 3rd edition talking about the process of retrieving information from the Librarium Terra - basically, they sent a bunch of servitors to search the stacks; 2 fell to their doom trying to cross walkways that were no longer there, 1 was crushed by a collapsing shelf, and the 2 that returned didn't manage to find the data IIRC.
Also, didn't the "Land" expedition (the one that found the STC plans for the Land Raider, Land Speeder, and Land Crawler) take place in the depths of the Librarium Terra?
I have read something that I think takes place in the librariam terra, or something like it at least,
iirc it was in one of the books of the first soul drinkers omnibus...after there split from the imperium, a fireteam goes down and burns a massive area to remove all traces of the chapter from the record. ill try to find it in the book..
halo...

And another piece of info. In the Inquisitor wars Omnibus between the first and second novels I believe an Inquisitor is searching for info in the librarium on a massive scaffolding on the side of a cliff like face.

I like how big things are in 40k. A library is so big you send armed expedition of archivists with maps, not a gopher with a catalog card...
The archivists rarely return. Probably eaten by mutant cannibals or crushed under a cascade of volumes from a millennium old stack.
Between those perils, the problems with the Noo Sphere, and the dubious use of telepathy... They're doing pretty well. They still know how to do some things.
Space Marine Librarians must use their psychic powers to find the correct edition of Grey's Anatomy for the new Apothecaries and bring it back alive.
God, you could write a whole book.

But if you did they would just put it in there and what good would that do?
"There is no strife, no prejudice, no Imperial conflict in the Webway as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation may never come again. But why, some say, the Black Library? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, ply the Warp? Why does Russ play Fetch?
We choose to go to the Black Library. We choose to go to the Black Library... (interrupted by applause) we choose to go to the Black Library in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.
It is for these reasons that I regard the decision last year to shift our efforts in Bibliogy from low to high gear as among the most important decisions that will be made during my incumbency in the office of the Prodigy."
