Look Out Sir! house rule fix (avoid the abuse!)

My gaming group is really enjoying 6th edition, but units like Nob Bikers and Paladins can really sour a game if a player is abusing the wound allocation system with an attached Independent Character.
We've found a house rule that puts a stop to that abuse and is more cinematic as well!

When a character makes a Look Out Sir! check, you must swap the position of the models. This means that characters can't tank all the wounds, except for those pesky AP 2 and/or Instant Death! hits that they want to avoid. If they do, then they must move their position and commit to the other model taking their place. It doesn't make sense (especially in a cinematic sense) for a scrub to only block the plasma gun attack in a full volley of shots.

We've found that this keeps the units that can really abuse the Look Out Sir! rule in check and it plays out in a really fun way.

    What do you guys think?

I am given to understand that character units will lose that ability as of the first rulebook errata. As such, where I finding it a problem I would simply disallow characters taking bullets for each other.

By utilizing our funding, game companies develop along the paths we desire. They exist because we allow it, and they will end because we demand it."

    Moved to rules development.

If you need to house rule to correct people's instinctive playing and social approaches, you might be in for a hard time no matter what you play. I'd talk to your gaming group about why rules abuse is wrong first.

I used to read the GW Other Forum, but I am much happier now.

Actually, I really like this, it makes the daisy chain strategy not work as well.
