    Iron Guard by Mark Clapham

    Has anyone seen this yet?

    http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-prod...ard-ebook.html

Seems like a surprise release, couldn't find it elsewhere. Out as an ebook only (for the moment?). Not really any info other than the cover, but I'm nonetheless sorely tempted...

EDIT: A little more info from the author himself here: http://markclapham.wordpress.com/tag/iron-guard/. Might give this one try.

I'd not seen it advertised anywhere... I'll probably pick it up though.

Well, I indeed couldn't resist and finished yesterday. Very interesting novel and very much worth the read, in my opinion. I won't spoil anything, but the characters in the book (Mordians and otherwise) were mostly interesting and quite human for a 40k novel, and the book gives a nice insight in what it is to live in the 41st millenium... Again, I won't spoil anything unless people really want me to, but I think there are some real gems, especially near the end. The author is apparently quite new to 40k which gives a refreshing perspective (and even though he misses a few points (for example on the nature of inter-planetary communication), his grasp of the background seems actually very good). My only real criticism would be the copy editing, which (as unfortunately not unusual for Black Library publications) seems to be conspicuously absent in places. That's only a minor niggle, though. I heartily recommend it!
