    Rambling fantasy projects

Hello all. After spending many years being wowed by the work people on these boards are doing, I've finally decided to have a go at creating a project log in the vain hope that by documenting a project I might actually get something finished!

So, no better way to start than by putting up some work in progress:

Start of a Skeleton "hero" with the early beginnings of some armour.

A couple of half painted Skaven and weapon arms, I bought the Island of Blood boxed set to practice painting on (apologies for the blurry shots) :

And finally, I've always wanted some scenic bases so I've decides to sculpt some cracked flagstones that I will be making a mould and casting from, they are WIP at the moment so the most complete ones are on the bottom left side. These are for a project (which I've been wanting to get started for ages) for an empire style "City State" army with loads of mercenaries and Guild faction troops:

Well there we are, first step taken. Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing what you folks think.

The Skaven are looking fine! I really like the wooden parts of the spears!

Thanks for the responses, the wooden parts of the spears have so far only had a coat of Vallejo Charred Brown and a wash of Devlan Mud.

I've spent this evening trying to dirty up the Skaven robes so I've given them a couple of washes and picked out some worn patches using cross hatching - looks a bit harsh under the bright light but it looks much more sympathetic to the human eye.

He looks great, but I think you need to give him at least one greave to balance the look a bit.

I agree, he's very much a WIP at the moment so he is quite top heavy! The plan is a piece of fabric covering the right leg and flowing behind the legs, and some bits and bobs hanging from belts...... what can I say, he's developing pretty much on the fly at the moment!

The advice is much appreciated, many thanks.

Here we are with a progress report.

The Skeleton Hero is coming on, still needs quite a bit more work i.e. on the Balefire coming from the skull and the armour on the exposed leg.

    Progress is coming on slowly!

While that's going on I'm attempting to start a sculpt from scratch, this is just building up the wire armature, it's the beginnings of a human but I haven't come up with where it's going yet...... perhaps he'll be a "City Watch" type for my city state.... we'll see.
